Hi, I have a lot of fine facial hair along the sides of my face, chin, and upper lip. I’ve been waxing my face for about 10 years and really would like to have laser hair removal performed but am worried about the laser being ineffective. I’m not interested in electrolysis as I’m worried about scarring & pitting. Are there are any lasers designed for fine hair(i.e. would the Apogee Elite work?) I’m of Indian descent and would say I’m a skin type 5. I’ve had my first treatment with the Cutera Coolglide Yag laser for my bikini area and am happy with the result at Aura skin spa in San Francisco. The nurse administering the treatment feels confident that the laser will be effective on my face but when I read these forums I don’t feel comfortable having it done on my face. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks.
You should be worried about LASER being ineffective for fine facial hair as it will cost you a lot of money for no results. I don’t think any reputable of ethical laser specialist would agree to take your case.
Your interest and positiveness in electrolysis should be re-ignited because that’s all you have if you want permanency and it is safe for your skin color. Do you know and have you seen someone who has scars and pits from electrolysis? Electrolysis does not cause scarring or pitting, but rather the PERSON doing electrolysis can cause this to happen if you are overtreated. Find a recommended, highly skilled electrologist. Call every electrologist in San Francisco. Call Nancy Pelosi and see who she uses (joke). Do a search here on hairtell for electrologists in your area and beyond. Do whatever you have to to ease your mind to find someone good. Get short sample treatments. If you still don’t want to do electrolysis, then it’s back to waxing. Double ugh. I see a lot of Indian women and not one has come back to hammer me for scarring or pitting. Their skin is flawless and smooth in the end and they are very grateful.
Please refer that “nurse” you talked to, to hairtell. It is hard to BS someone when you know there are hundreds of posts on a consumer hair removal website saying just the opposite. As much as the business wants your money and as much as you want a LASER answer with an effective outcome, you are in for disappointment. Sorry this is not easier.
I have used a home treatment laser on fine hair on my face & it has turned the fine, blonde hairs dark and coarse so I now look as if I have a man’s beard. Do be careful.
What home laser did you use?
Rio
'kay. Thanks. So it works, but did the opposite intended. Too bad.
No, laser will not work for the type of hair you describe. In fact, it can induce MORE growth.
Electrolysis is the only solution to this problem. There is no pitting or scarring with good electrolysis. We recommend trying out 3-4 electrologists to find a good one. You have lots of options in the Bay area. I had many areas completed without any issues, with both laser and electrolysis.
