Finally found someone who uses an apilus platinum!

Finally, after about a year of searching i have found someone who uses an apilus platinum “Apilus Platinum Pure” in florida! I am going to see her next Tuesday and i am so excited. She is about 2 hours away from me but if the treatments are more effective then my previous electrologist’s then its worth it to me. She said over the phone she use’s the picoflash mostly which i think is good? Her name is Dominica N. Johnson and she seems very knowledgeable and has up to date equipment! I don’t know if any of you guys know her? But anyways we will see how this goes i will keep you guys posted  SUPER EXCITEDDDDD

This is 4 days after being treated with the apilus platinum pure. with the picoflash! She said she likes to be aggressive with treatment but maybe a little two aggressive?

But then again maybe im just a natural scabber :frowning:

By the look of it, you’ll be fine … AND, those hairs are NOT coming back. Get something “greasy” on the area: Polysporin/Neosporin ointment is a good choice.

Well… you know what I’m gonna say! To avoid scabbing like this, using the largest size probe that will fit into the follicle is helpful. An insulated probe, like a Laurier, would be lovely. One burst of energy while the probe is positioned at the bottom of the follicle is also helpful. Doing several insertions on one hair follicle can contribute to scabbing. I don’t know what program area she used or her levels of intensity and timing and it is not my place to tell her because there are several variables that only she would be privy to. Show her these pictures and ask her if she can make some adjustments to minimize the scabbing. DO NOT PICK OFF THE SCABS. What is your aftercare routine? Did it hurt a lot? One can be aggressive without too much scabbing. I hardly ever hear feedback about scabbing and I am aggressive, too. Those kind of hairs do need a punch in the nose. Thanks for posting Jhair. It was very generous of you. By the way, 7-10% of the population is allergic to the neomycin in the Neosporin, so do observe the area if you choose to use that product.

So dee should i ask her if she use’s insulated probes and if not should I buy them for my treatment? Will it make that big of a difference? Does she need to be trained in how to use them? Cause I think she is just using standard probes. And she use’s a foot switch instead of the auto that is available on the platinum so as for timing I have no idea. Alos I’ll ask her what level of intensity she used on me and get back to you with that!

My after care treatment is tea tree oil and witch hazel…

Should you choose to follow that advice, please do a patch test first, as a large number of people are allergic to Neomycin. I happen to be one of those people, and I can tell you, while the allergic reaction is bad, it is not necessarily one you would associate with the use of the product. Let’s just say, if things look worse, use something else, and don’t blame your hair removal practitioner.

You can ask her if she offers a variety of probes that you can experiment with to see if that makes enough of a difference to lessen the reaction. I personally don’t use stainless steel probes and I know that probe choice does make a difference. My stock consists of Laurier insulated, Ballet gold, Ballet insulated and Pro-Tec all ranging from sizes 2-6.

It doesn’t matter whether she uses a foot switch or the auto sensor. Personally, I never use a foot switch. For me it is too restricting and slows me down. I fatigue sooner as well. Some of my appointments are five hours long, but would most likely have to be shorter if I had to fiddle with a foot switch. She, on the other hand, may not be comfortable without using a foot switch. We are all different! It’s okay!

Energy levels used varies from treatment to treatment and area to area. She can’t be told what you need by another electrologist. It is up to her to make that decision. She may not like insulated probes? There is not a high learning curve for using them. If she is willing to try and she has a few on hand, that would be great. If she doesn’t stock any, you can purchase your own, but that would cost you about $50 for a box. She might have a colleague that would be willing to give her a few to try. The only thing I can say positively is, for you hair structure, I am sure she is not using the Lip program at Level 1, 2 or 3… Those levels would do nothing to those man hairs.

Okay, so if you are using small dabs of tea tree oil after you apply witch hazel and your skin is reacting well, then that is a good thing. HOWEVER, I do not use tea tree oil without applying a nice cold layer of the purest aloe vera I can buy over top of the tea tree oil. I never use tea tree oil alone on the skin.

I recently had a client who would get beet red after a few insertions on her face and neck. Her reaction was crazy even on the lowest levels! So, when something like that happens, I get out a paper with a diagram of a face and we experiment with probe types and modalities. I mark what we did on each side, with levels used and she takes a copy home and I keep a copy. She e-mails me in 4-5 days and tells me what her healing outcome was like for each side of her face and neck. That helps me zone in on a good recipe for her individual needs. She had the best outcome with blend, OmniBlend to be specific, so that is the plan we are sticking to until she is completed.

New clients can take a while to figure out. So, give her feedback about your treatments and don’t be too picky about after effects. You have to have some temporary skin reaction, such as swelling or redness/pinkness. If she can do this with minimal scabbing or no scabbing, then BINGO! If not, you will still heal, so be patient.

Lastly, just a small warning. For reasons beyond my understanding, some electrologists and I will include laser specialists as well, seem to want to hold back on the levels they use on you. I hope she doesn’t, but if she is hesitant to tell you that information, you can deal with that the way you think is best.
