Hi. I’m 23 and have long blonde-very light brown vellus-type hair all over my body. I am getting electrolysis on my upper lip and sideburns and it is going ok so far. However, there is another area that deeply bothers me-- I am so depressed over it. It is my buttocks… I waxed the hair there several times for personal reasons and after that I swear it got worse---- it got denser and thicker… after that I shaved it a few times and still it got worse I feel. I can feel the hairs when I touch it and you can see it in light-- they’re mostly blonde and very long not really thick and not coarse-- vellus-type… I am so self-conscious of it I don’t let my fiance touch me and it is ruining our relationship.
I am pretty sure that laser won’t work but knowing how long electrolysis takes on upper lip alone… should I even consider electrolysis for this area? I am not a big person—wear a size 0 in jeans and my butt is pretty small but still it seems like such a big area for electrolysis and the hair growth there is so dense…
Plus, are electrolyigists even comfortable with areas like these?

If it is a case of “Barbi Syndrome” (the idea that we should all look like plastic/airbrushed images) then I will remind you that you are human, and this is normal.
As a guy I can say that you are not the only woman out there with hair on the buttcheeks, there are others, so don’t feel like a freak or abnormal in any way. Electrolysis could get rid of those in an effective way. It would just be a matter of scheduling one hour appointments for about six or eight weeks, then taking care of the cleanup work following. The good thing is the butt is kind of tolerant to pain, so a good flash operator could move along at a good clip. Once you get going with the appointments the time goes by fast. You know, the time will go by anyway so you might as well get started. Like most, you’ll see how great it is having the area smooth, and will probably move on to have other areas done. I have a pretty long list of things and will probably keep my electrologist happy for quite some time.
For what it’s worth, I got my butt cheeks and the inside of the butt cheeks (peri-anal) DONE (100% cleared!) with electrolysis in relatively short time. Butt cheeks didn’t hurt so bad, but man, the inside of the butt was killer.
The first time I felt my wife’s butt, I was a little shocked as she had more hair than me. However, I thought that be very shallow if we split up because of that. We’ve been married for over 20 years and, frankly, I don’t even notice it. The bottom line: There is more to a person than hair.
