Could this be from the electrolysis I had yesterday? It was just a consultation, so only a few hairs were treated. Can electrolysis cause any other side effects besides skin related ones?
Thanks so much for the advice!

Yes. Electrolysis makes you feel like you’re hairier then you are and will make you depressed, manic depressive etc etc.
In reality, no. Our emotions are controlled by our brain that interprets electrical signals … So yeah. There you go.
Oh ok, so you just think it was a conquincidence? I have been overwhelmed and stressed about it.
I mean it’s not uncommon to feel a bit tired or exhausted after electrolysis, especially if it’s after a long session (a few hours). After a consultation, it’s probably just in your head
Okay, yea she just zapped a few hairs. I won’t do more than a half hour session. I was just concerned electrolysis can give more side effects then skin related ones.
Thanks!
tee hee … I love this post!
why Michael?
Somehow in my withered pea brain, I think it’s “cute,” I mean your observation/deduction. It made me laugh.
I have forgotten the term, but it’s associated with causation and observation. That is, if two events happen at the same time, we often think that one caused the other, and we all do it. It’s human nature.
For example, I just had my car “gone over for the Winter” and the very next day, my solenoid grounded-out. My first thought was … “what did those mechanics DO TO MY CAR!” But, I knew is was only coincidence. I cleaned up the dirty connections and it was fine. If you know an auto mechanic … they ALL have stories like this.
During the “dark ages” (?) a family came down with the plague and they had a black cat. People assumed that black cats caused the plague … so black cats were killed off. Which, of course, helped to increase the rat population … more fleas and more plague! Lovely! Oh yeah, we still “do” black cats for Halloween too! And, that’s why!
We humans are SOOOOOOOOOO silly some times! (Case in point … “shaving causes more hair to grow.” Now, where did I leave my black cat? he he he)
I know it was probably a coincidence. However I did get headaches, tired etc. when I had a laser hair removal.
The area she treated during my consultation is still sore, I guess my skin is not used to it. It was three days ago though and it didn’t hurt getting it done.
Actually, I just realized that the soreness is not coming from the spot I had treated, but above it is a sore hard spot. Could electrolysis cause skin irritation around the treated area or just the treated area?
I also got electrolysis three days ago and it showed up today.
Just some swelling; part of the normal healing process … not to worry. If you have a “real infection” you will certainly know about it … fast.
How I “cover it?” Well, I tell my (body work) clients they will look like a “horror story” right after treatment … I also REALLY kill hairs, predictably and with accuracy. None of this “well, let’s just see what happens” and then years later nothing happened.
When people are referring to infection do you mean skin infection or an infection in your body that affects your health?
Thanks so much for your time Michael!
What do you think of this?
My electrologist told me that it was normal to get the scabs, but these many scabs?! It has been 3 weeks now and its getting better but it itches! She said that the legs are the slowest to heal from a week to a whole month! Is the itching normal though?
Also I have sore hard spots but I believe it was the elastic of my sock that caused this and I have no idea if it will get better soon or not, I hope it didn’t cause any damage that will linger.
So far I have spent 3 hour and the are treated (to me) it looks like such a small area; I come out exhausted, depressed, and just plain sad every time knowing just how much I have to go see amazing results.
Well everyone grows hair on their legs/arms. I am getting my facial hair removed. I have high testosterone, so I have a lot of hair. At least your spots aren’t embarrassing.
I would never be able to get any other parts of my body done because I think it would take to long. If I can get my face cleared I will be extremely happy.
I too have facial hair but I don’t have the courage to have it treated; I think it’s very courageous of you and I wish you the very best.
For me, the facial hair along with the breast and chest would be my last option because of how inconvenient it is for me due to my job (I work outdoors in the sun and dirt) that would be like asking for an infection. I can only imagine the joy of having an upper lip and sideburns free of those ugly thick hair…
Good luck to you and keep at it.
If you treat the skin reasonably, this isnt an issue being outdoors. Sunscreen should be used, but infection is not an issue if you keep the area clean regularly. Lots of people who work outdoors get electrolysis. It comes down to taking care of the treated area, but it shouldnt have to be avoided. You have the option of wearing clothing, and protecting the area from sun and dirt if you are willing to put the effort in the reward is waiting for you. A hat to protect from the sun does miles towards preventing sun damage on the face.
Thanks Flower, I’m really hoping it works! I agree with Iluv, you should get it to remove your facial hair. There are ways to keep the area clean. I’m the opposite, facial hair is my number one priority in getting hair removed. I don’t really care about the other body parts, since they can be covered with clothes. Having my facial hair permanently removed would be a dream come true. Good luck to you too!
