Hi, I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to keep opening topics, so forgive me if I’ve been a pain, I just need some advice.
I’m receiving laser treatment on my lower back which I think is going well. However, I have many areas that concern me and I’m at the point where I’ve stopped enjoying my life as a result. I inquired about electrolysis to my laser nurse and she said that the risk of scarring would be too great for me and that it will be too slow, painful and expensive. It’s left me really upset because I’m blonde, so I don’t have much of a choice and I can’t live like this anymore!
The areas that I want treating the most are the back of my neck and the line of hair from my chest to my navel. Is the risk of scarring too severe in these areas? I’m at a loss to understand why she would put me off when it would make her money?
I am a little confused why your nurse would say that the risk of scarring would be great. Provided the electrolysis treatment is done correclty their should be no scarring in these areas. If you go to a skilled electrologist with the right magnification and lighting you should have no problem. Electrolysis works very well on all hair colours.
Thanks to modern technology, electrolysis treatments are now alot faster and lot more comfortable.
So your laser nurse also performs electrolysis treatments?
Are you in a state that requires electrology training to become a laser tech? If so, could it be that your laser tech doesn’t like to do electrolysis?
It is my understanding that laser is not effective for blond hair. It is my knowledge that electrolysis works for any color of hair on any type of skin.
Please consult with someone who has a full time electrology practice.
I echo the above and want to stress that this scarring and slow stuff is hogwash. Our contributor professional electrologist, Josefa, has posted YouTube videos all over this site disproving the slow part. Laser is no faster if it can’t “see” light or fine hair. Laser can scar, causing hyper and hypopigmentation. You should see the face of a beautiful Somali woman I am treating now. She has had this hyperpigmentationq on her upper cheeks for many months. I ditto what Sahar said about modern technology. Many of us and our clients, are very appreciative towards the electrolysis manufactures that keep innovating and building on the basic principles that make electrolysis faster, deadlier and more comfortable for the consumer. Skin reaction is much, much better, too.
This lady may have some scabbing, maybe some pigmentation. But whatever her skin does to heal from the electrolysis, it will heal completely. Find yourself a good electrologist and you don’t need to worry about scarring.
Thank you for your replies, it makes me feel much more hopeful. I do get the feeling that my laser nurse isn’t a pro at electrolysis and maybe that’s why she’s putting me off. I have emailed around on here to people from my area to find a good fast electrologist who can do blend. I will get a second opinion. Plus, my hair on my lower back is lighter than the picture on the above post I don’t think the laser is likely to work if this woman had opted for electrolysis on her darker hair!
Thermolysis can remove more hair per hour than blend, and if performed well, is less painful, because it doesn’t take as long. What would be more painful, some measure of treatment energy for a few 10,0000ths of a second, or some measure of treatment energy for 4 to 10 seconds?
You will need to just find the best skilled practitioner in your area, regardless of method practiced. (although if treatment sensation and speed to full final clearance is a high priority, thermolysis is a good bet.
Try glycyrrhizic acid. It’s on ebay.
It helped for my excessive hair, but you have to remove the hair from the root first. It helps for oily skin and pimples too.
Good luck. I wish you all the best. I know how you are feeling.
Hi laurasblease - dont forget that some hair is normal allso on girls - if you have lighter hair than that on the picture, it looks not that bad to me - every girl has hair there.
If you would have thick hair on face or lot of hair on breasts, then I would understand that youre down - with your condition you shouldnt feel ashamed
