I’m looking to get this done for my 20 yr old. Bikini area, tummy too. Any suggestions on who anyone has had & been happy with. About how many appointments will she need. Thanks for all the help!
I am a practicing electrologist and I usually refer my clients, who appear to be good candidates for laser for the bikini area, to a local laser practitioner who is skilled and uses an alexandrite laser. If they specifically do not want to get this area lased, then electrolysis is a great option as well.
How many appointments is dependent on how much hair one has and how much they want removed. Speed, skill, equipment used, modality used differ from electrologist to electrologist, so there is no accurate reply for your question about time. I always stick my neck out though and speak in generalities knowing what I can do as an individual electrologist, so if you will take this information in that vain, I will tell you that generally speaking, a bikini line can take anywhere from 8 to 20 treatments spread out over a year. Sessions are typically longer and spaced closer together up front to clear the hair and then become shorter and spaced farther apart as we keep the area cleared and maintained, until there is no hair left to treat.
Some people need a topical anesthetic, like EMLA, whether they have electrolysis or laser. I don’t know how old your daughter is or what her motivation level is to have this done. This is an area that is best treated starting in the fall if one lives in colder climates and has no need for wearing swim wear for several months.
I hope some consumers will respond to your question as well.

I agree that for bikini, you will probably be better off starting with laser if her skin is light and her hair is dark and coarse. For stomach, it depends on whether the hair is coarse enough for laser. If not, electrolysis there from the start.
Try running a search here for your state and see what comes up in terms of recommendations. Otherwise, read the “how to find an electrologist” sticky post and start sampling.
In terms of laser, please read the FAQs and determine if she’s a good candidate first. FAQs will also suggest ways of finding good laser clinics near you.
