Failed LHR - Looking for electrolysis advice

Hi All,

Unfortunately LHR has not gone as hoped and I am now seeking advice/guidance on beginning Electrolysis treatment. Please bear with me as I am totally new to Electrolysis.

First a bit of history, over this year I have been having LHR treatments on my upper back, shoulders and upper arms. Each time I had a session I went through the demoralising process of having the hair grow back as normal within a few months. I had my last session around a week and a half ago and I am not hopeful that the results will be any different this time around.
I have been reading a litte about Electrolysis, lurking the boards here and feel this is the best way to go. I hope to begin treatment in May 2013. This is 7 months after my last LHR session in order to give time for the hair to grow back. I have a few questions I hope some of you could answer:

I am based in London, England so Ideally I would like to visit someone close and who could book me in for 7 months time. Could you guys possibly recommend someone for me? Nothing is off the table so any recommendations I would appreciate.

What does the process involve exactly. Am I right that there are up to 3 ‘clearings’ spaced out over a period of months which is due to the different growing phases of the hair? Whats are the time spans involved?

What kind of timescales am I looking at for clearing my upper arms, shoulders and upper back? I know this is subjective based on each individual and unfortunately I cannot provide a picture at this time due to the LHR shedding I am going through. I estimate I have around 40-50 hairs per square inch on my back and less on my shoulders and upper arms if that helps? The hair is coarse.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

Many thanks

Every electrologist works at different rates, how much do you know about electrolysis. Which method do you think you would like to try? If your electrologist can work in telogen then the kill rate can be as high as 80 percent as with Josefa from Spain in one clearance. Due to the area and time frame given I would try and see if she has time and whether you want to try someone in the UK as many not willing due to commitment and generally that electrolysis is only for small areas… get some consultations in and go from there, once hair has grown in of course.

Hi Geeza,

To be honest I don’t know too much about electrolysis. I’ve been reading that the blend method is the most efficient so everyone would want to have that method no?
I’ve also been reading nothing but praise for Josefa including in the thread that you created. Even though I am based in London I would be happy to travel to her if she can make me hair free
Do you know if she can see me in maybe 6-7 months time?
I really am quite new to all this so excuse the ignorance.

Thermolysis. Josefa has both speed and accuracy. She is also able to do marathon sessions. That seems like ample time away. The best thing you could do is email or pm Josefa as regards her timetable. It’s pretty far away so may be able to make time for you. My second clearance with josefa was 2 months and 1 week later as someone had cancelled…otherwise I would have had to wait till April apparently as fully booked. I’m sure she will read this thread but better to enquire as she is most definitely can give you an answer.

It is the skill of the electrologist, not the method or machine brand that determines the end result. All three electrolysis modalities (galvanic, blend, high-frequency) achieve permanent hair removal.

This is absolutely true, but reminds me of an anecdote. I have a client for beard removal, and we are mostly finished. He told me that the first electrologist he saw in NYC was a woman doing single-needle galvanic! Now, even if she performed everything perfectly, there is no way that he would be walking totally hair free most of the time just after a few months! Had he continued with her, he would have been in for a very long haul!

I am aware of two electrologists in the western United States that specialize in fast, high-intensity (.7mA - 1.5mA), single-needle galvanic electrolysis. Both treat full beards/heavy cases with little or no regrowth and claim to have a loyal following. If before and after pictures are any indication, the skin looks flawless.

Adding to my colleague above:

Remember, there is more that one correct answer to a problem.

Thanks for the information guys. I have been doing my homework about electrolysis and feel I am ready to commit to this. Rather than waste time trying to find someone in the UK, I’ll try and see if Josefa will see me in several months time.
I’ll let you know how it goes.
