Face Lift ... and

I’m going to be taking care of a post-op patient this weekend: full face-lift. This is one of my electrolysis clients and she’s already beautiful, but at her age, this is going to make her “Maaavelous Daaaahrling” … refreshed and looking like her “old” self again. But, I warned her.

Yes, she’s going to look a mess right after. She won’t notice the mess, until the “drugs” wear off. Then, she will go to the mirror and probably say, “Oh dear God, what have I done?” Maybe a few tears, maybe a little “feeling ill,” It’s all part of the process and I will be there for her the entire time. Why do I mention this?

Simple. Procedures that involve the skin almost always look horrible immediately afterward! Post-treatment electrolysis is no exception. Still, many clients tend to “freak out” with normal post-treatment manifestations (the normal healing process). Yep, they post these photos here on Hairtell all the time … fearful that something wrong happened.

You know what? We need to photograph EVERY post-treatment manifestation, put this in a document and show (and tell) how this all resolves. (Indeed, real overtreatment is another issue, but I’m not addressing that at the moment).

The clients that stay at my home following electrolysis, never “freak out,” because I tell them what’s going to happen beforehand, and I have the remedies right here for them. Actually, I have all the materials laid out in their private bathroom. They see all these products before starting, and I explain what they are and when we are going to use them.

Back to my face-lift lady: Thing is, she is NOT going to remember ANY of the anxiety, pain and tears after she’s completely healed. I mean, she will completely forget! (Maybe it’s the drugs?) A year later, she won’t even remember what she looked like before the face-lift! (And, that’s why we always take before-surgery photos).

To my fellow zapperettes: How many times have you had a client say, “I don’t see much difference.” Then, you show them the original photos! Most of the time they are astonished, and sometimes they don’t even think it’s really their photo.

Keep that camera clicking!
