btw … my bikini area its kind of type 5 … it’s too dark
after tow weeks . i came back to checking session
and i asked her to increase j to 10
it’s little bit painful but i can handle it
& make the area light red for maybe 4 hours then it’s been normal
I say I’m surprised you had any results period, 18mm/10j is WAY too low to give permanent results. At 18mm you need at least 18J, unless you have the settings mixed up. Not sure how you could even feel anything at that low…
Sheesh, I agree with edokid. That is the lowest I’ve heard a professional using on this laser. If you’re have type 5 skin then don’t waste time with low settings on a GentleLASE. You need a Yag or something.
18mm 8J, wow. The lowest I’d be comfortable paying for would be 16J, but I’ve heard others go as low as 14 with some results. 8J can’t even be an approved setting for hair removal. I can’t believe Candela would endorse something that low instead of switching a person to a GentleYAG instead.
If 10J left a genuine burn, do NOT continue treatment. This is the end of your GentleLASE journey in that area, sorry. You can’t go lower, you need to find a clinic with a GentleMAX machine (which has a YAG option) or some other YAG device.
It may not be a burn, it may just be hyper-pigmentation. This is still a bad sign if you’re sure it’s from the laser.
Honestly, I feel the clinic here is at fault because they obviously recognized you are too dark for GentleLASE (which is why they used terribly low settings), and yet they proceeded anyway. Unless there is something I’m missing, they sound like a bad clinic anyway, so you’d be wise to switch clinics.
That’s why it hurt as well, GentleLASE is NOT for your skin type!!! The issue is that if you stop treatment, I’m pretty confident all the hair will grow back since it’s just not strong enough to permanently kill it, you should be using GentleYAG or GentleMAX which has the Yag module.
We’re not trying to be rude or anything that’s just how it works unfortunately. I’m surprised the machine even lets the user pick 8 or 10 joules on it. I always thought those levels were more for skin treatments and what not but not hair removal…
If you can handle 14j on 18mm, you’re not a type V. They shouldn’t be using anything under 14J on 18mm. It won’t damage the hair permanently and a bunch will likely come back in 4-6 months.
