I have been reading threads in the laser section and a lot of people are complaining about having increased hair growth after laser treatments due to increased blood flow to the area. I would suspect that electrolysis would not have this problem, all other factors disregarded (i.e. hormone levels, etc.) Has anyone had a problem with increased hair growth after electrolysis?
I was also wondering, does bleaching cause incrased blood flow to the area as well? I know it contains a lot of chemical agents. I noticed my hair getting courser and longer where I have bleached it over the years. I was wondering if it was just normal growth or something that might have been caused by the chemicals
Thank you!
I have had both laser and electrolysis. Electrolysis never increased or altered my hair. However, with laser I had the problem. In my case, they touched vellus or fine hair and that stimulated dormant hairs as well as altered the hair being treated. The area became very itchy a few days later and the hair grew back longer and darker. Since electrolysis targets one hair at a time and directly targets the root, you should be no problem at all.
As far as the bleach, I haven’t used it in years but didn’t experience an altering of hair either.
Electrolysis doesn’t have a way of doing that since it only treats one hair at a time, i.e. only the hair that’s being removed. I’ve bleached for years before laser and electrolysis and that also didn’t do anything to the hair. It doesn’t affect the root.
What you’re seeing is most likely the result of hormones having an effect. Increases in hair can be due to things like puberty, pregnancy, usage of certain medications, etc. Anything that causes changes in hormones in your body.
