This is somewhat embarrassing but I have hair on my bottom, which, as you can imagine, I would like to get rid of. The hair is fine, very similar to the hair on my lower back but it’s not particularly light, actually its quite dark, and its a nice full coat over my rear. I have been waxing it which is quite a hassle and I am quite ready to invest in its removal. Is laser or electrolysis or both the way to go? I am skin type IV and my skin is very sensitive, scars easily and all the works. That said, it is light and when I had a session or two of laser done on my legs a few yeas back, I was told I was a good candidate given the contrast. Much reading later, I realize that the underlying pigment remains a problem no matter the surface color and that she could have been wrong. Anyhow, I would appreciate any advice.
If the hair is as fine as you describe, laser probably won’t be very effective, especially on a type IV (since you’ll probably have to use a Yag). You can get good results on the coarse hair (if that’s what you have on your legs) with a good Yag laser and an experienced tech, but I wouldn’t get your hopes up for the fine hair. You’ll need electrolysis for it.
Thanks Lagirl! The hair is fine where its located on the cheeks. There is coarser hair, pubic hair really, around the anus. Should I get that lasered? Or should I have it all done with the electrologist?
Laser works great on bikini and the perianal area. I had that done. It will be cheaper and faster than electrolysis for that coarse hair. So it’s worth doing laser there if there is enough coarse hair to treat. For the other fine hair, you’ll need electrolysis from the start.
