Electrolysis that didn't work

I have been doing electrolysis every week or two weeks for nearly a year and I feel I haven’t gotten much of a result. I had some fine hairs on my face and upper arm from mistreatment from a laser. Those, along with some course hair on the chin, have not been permanently removed. I haven’t gone for 2 months and it’s like complete regrowth. I also did some of the fine hairs on my stomach and it seems like they grew back darker! I went to 2 different people. I didn’t like the office policies of the first one. The second one shaved everything first, which might have accounted for the darker regrowth. After the second treatment, I started to wonder if she knew what she was doing after getting severe scabbing. I knew it would be a process, but nearly a year with very little result, even on fine hairs, forced me to reevaluate. I am heartsick about how much money was spent and how little I have to show for it.

I am considering starting up again, but not sure who to go to or if it would be the same result. I am in Brooklyn and there are no longer many electrologists around anymore.

Any advice would be appreciated.

PS. I am female.

Well, raven, I can’t see your hair problem, but if you have fine peachy fuzzy hair, then most likely, you have a lot of hair. I do a lot of peach fuzz cases - the kind of specialty electrolysis that I like doing. No doubt it’s a hard road to go for both client and electrologist. Lots of fine hair is probably the most challenging of all electrolysis cases. You have to invest a lot of time in such a project, especially if you are doing facial hair, or you will go nowhere. Going for a year doesn’t tell me how many hours you invested in each session for that year. I work hours at a time for each session on clients and it is still an endeavor that can take up to 2.5 years until YOU think you have reached your goal. This can be very intensive work and many times when I judge the client to be “finished”, they may be thinking that they are just getting started.

So, do you really think nothing happened? How long were your appointments each time? Can you submit a picture? Can you see other electrologists outside of Brooklyn?

Hi,

I would say it is scattered peach fuzz, which I think makes it more difficult to see. I went for half an hour to an hour each session. The dark course hair definitely all came back. I do understand that hormones play in role there. As for the finer hairs, all I see is maybe a slight difference. I don’t think a camera could even pick up that hair. I would be open to an electrologist outside of Brooklyn if they were thought to be fast and effective.
