Electrolysis - pitting! Very concerned

Hi everyone.

I’ve been doing electrolysis (thermolysis, high current) on my face since the end of September. While I can see some progress being made, I have become really really concerned and upset about the pitting that the process has also caused.

I recognise it’s not been even a month since my last session (so my skin hasn’t had the time to properly heal), however I’m not just talking about redness that will go away with time. I just can’t imagine the pitting going away ever. My face looks like it’s got quite a few small permanent holes all around the cheeks and the neck.

I still have hair (of course), so I wonder what to do- I’d like to continue with electrolysis but I wonder whether I should start seeing someone else?

So I’m not sure what to do about it as I feel like there’s little I can do to reverse it?

Thank you in advance for any advice.

Do you have pictures of your skin BEFORE electrolysis was started? Skin texture is different for every person. Some have orange peel skin, with large pores and some has porcelain skin like a doll. How many hours have you put into this?

Thank you for your response.

My skin before electrolysis was by no means perfect (and my pores are indeed larger than average), but there weren’t such ‘pits’/dents before. Please see picture below.

In terms of hours- I’m not sure about the overall number I’m afraid. I started with one electrologist in September, and I used to have between 1 and 2.5h per week with her every week till the beginning of December. Then I realised I could feel plucking with her, so I moved to another specialist. I’ve had only around 5h since the beginning of December with her (we’ve tried to space out the treatments but she’s told me she uses a high current.) I’m really not sure what to do and whether it’d be best to see a private dermatologist?

I’m sorry, but it looks like the second picture was taken with make up on your skin. I cannot make any suggestions with the information, but I thank you for the pictures anyway. Many people that have never had electrolysis before have skin that appears pitted, with acne as one of the biggest contributing factors. I am not concerned with what I see in the first picture.

There isn’t actually any makeup on. The picture was taken at 11pm before I went to bed. Which is what probably helps explain why I’m so concerned about the current state of my skin.

I’ve booked an appointment with a dermatologist for next Tuesday, and I’m terrified at the idea of what they will say. Will update the post accordingly.

That’s a good plan. Good luck to you.
