That is exactly what I mean IVMI…You are making the problem worse in your head. Focussing on it worsens the problem.
Don’t do it sweetheart, you DON’T look 100 years older and believe me I rather have your eyes like that with the tiny scars than a hairy eyebrow.
Try to understand that you are in a stress-mode…It is YOU who is judging yourself in a completely unhealthy way.
You are developing something that is called “body-dismorphic disorder” which means that you look at yourself and exaggerate the flaws you see in yourself.
Shift your focus and try to see it as less a big problem than you are doing now.
Because it is ONLY YOU that is judging yourself so harshly…
If you cry all the time and feel depressed…try to find psychological help…I am not trying to be a nuisance but I am a psychologist myself and I know cases like this. ESPECIALLY when one encounters a CHANGE in bodily appearance…It seems there are people that cannot cope with sudden changes (contrary to slow changes over time)
I also say this because, even as a psychologist, I have been going to one myself in the past. Because I was depressed and stressed because of things I encountered in the past.
That’s maybe different but it has the same mechanism: -FOCUSSING and FOCUSSING on something small, so it will eventually grow out to be a huge huge problem and furthermore you trained your brain to keep thinking about it, so even when you don’t want to your brain, as an automatism, will start thinking about it again. Or when you come to places (like home) where you always think of it, you will get primed to think about it everytime you get there…
It is difficult to stop it yourself so if you’re feeling that it is going way out of hand…seek some help…
I hate to see you suffer that much because of such a small thing.
Dear ivmi, i followed your thread from the point where i left it late summer, and i was happy to see the pictures of the progress. As i also have to deal with permanent scars i can reproduce your feelings. Anyway a question You might to try to find an answer for Yourself: there was a state before doing electolysis. Undisturbed skin, but many disturbing hairs in Your eyebrows. And the state now - what i see is a slight but still noticeable damage of your skin (which i would not like as well) but permenently well formed eyebrows. How is the balance for You? An improvemet despite the disturbance? That is what i would probably see in an A/B comparison.
A few words on the healing time: during puberty i suffered from acne, and there have been some scars left. I didn’t like them, but they did not disturbe me significantly, and i believed that these acne scars would be visible all my life. Ok, some 10-15 years later i was surprosed to recognise they were gone.
Then the scarring in my face caused by electrolysis and by those damned lidocain injections. Still visible (much more than these few small acne scars), but improved a lot over time, especially early this year, more than two years after the incident. So there is still hope for natural healing of Your eyebrow if You give it the time it needs. If You permit mentally.
I would be really happy if the scars in my face had reduced to the intensity of the disturbance You have to deal with.
Is there really no “wel, i know it might have come out better, but it is nevertheless an improvement over the initial state”?
i did ask myself the 1st question you wrote in your post…and i would reather have my hair back and perfect skin…i didn’t had that much hair and it didn’t looked strange…it just bothered me becouse I constantly had to wax them(every 4-5 days)…and since im dark haired it was always noticeble when they grew up…and about permanence of my eyebrow form…i really doubt in it…couse i still have to pluck some hairs… i dont know…i just wish I never had done this and continue tweezeng… it would be much less stressful and my skin would be beautiful like it was… i really dont like hairs, but i really love my skin and this is why its hurting me so much… i hope that there is still hope of my totall healing…althoug i did had electrolisis on my upper lip 2 years ago and i didn’t had scabs, it was swollen for few hours and a bit reddish, but very very slightly and now i can see tiny pits and lines - wrinkles appeare here…so that made me really suspicious that this will heal when those above my mouth got only worse…I would never do any kind of permanent or reducing hair treatment never ever again in my life…so you still think that some of your scars are not permanent…? i’ve seen that maybe you will have laser treatment…i ask a question on realself .com about what to do with pitted scaring after electrolysis and he said that it may improve over a year but if they dont that i shoul consider punch grafts or nonablative laser treatment becouse ablative will not affest the scarring so much since it is deep in skin…
please send me a message when you did aome of threatment you decide of and tell me how it works for you…i still don’t know what tehnique should be the best to smooth out my skin…
I think it would not be prudent to mess around with your skin while it may be restructuring. It is too soon to try other things. Please consider giving this more time, ivmi.
oh toeman! no no no!! im not ignoring you!! i found your post very very helpfu and I’m thinking about what you said all the time! as the matter of fact my boyfriend told me the same thing you did!! but as you know it is very difficult to see things like that! i will need much more time!! please don’t be mad!!
Its long time I have not posted any thing.I was so busy in these days with my new job.Two days ago I did my 4th electrolysis treatment on both sides of my face with galvanic method.I always have a 6 weeks difference between my appointments and always get full clearance because there are not too much hairs to treat. It took her 45 minutes to clear on cheeks and some on ears.
I need your advice this time also regarding my treatment. On the day of treatment I got swelling but this gone the very next day.Now there are acne grains on my face where I got treatment.I called her and she told me that your hair are coarse and dark and some times this is reaction from galvanic current but this will dry in some days and will be finished.
I just want to know if I need to be worried about this or this can be a problem regarding some scars or spots on face. And what precautions should I follow to resolve this problem and what I should do regarding my future treatments.
If you had used Tea Tree Oil post treatment, and/or overnight, this reaction would be unlikely. It is common, however, as lye is still in the follicle even after the treatment is over, and the body must neutralize it, and deal with the left over necrotic tissue. IF you don’t have anything like this a week later, you are doing fine.
Thank you very much for your response.I had no tea tree oil.But I have bough it now and applied it from 2nd day.But may be now this is little late. But I will keep applying. But now I see some scabs here and there. What you think tea tree oil is also beneficial for them. And James another question I had some laser hair removal sessions on my neck area. Now I want to finish the remaining hairs with electrolysis but she told me that i will not do this with electrolysis. You have to wait for one year before doing treatment.
The tea tree oil will help that as well, and things will heal faster.
It is complete rubbish that one needs to wait a year before doing electrolysis after L.A.S.E.R., but you problem will be finding someone who may be willing to work on you sooner.
No one wants to be sued for problems that may actually have been caused by the prior treatment, or was there, but you never noticed. This is why they are timid about working on you.
ivmi, I just looked at the picture you posted of your eyebrow. I have to tell you that I DO see what you are talking about. HOWEVER, one time when I went to see my eyebrow guy (I go every 2-3 weeks) I looked in the mirror after I left the salon and the skin above my eyebrow looked exactly like yours in the photo. I was really freaked out but it went away after several weeks with absolutely no after effects. I know this happened to you a while ago but I am hopeful it will go away soon.
Thank you caligirl for sharing your experience, but i don’t think that it is the same…my pitting is here for 10 months, and mine pitting wasn’t visible right after treatment it appeared half month after treatment, prior that i was swollen for tree days and after that it shanged collor from red to brown and started to dent…so… but thank you for sending positive vibres.I’m glad that yours resolved in that quick period of time.
I’m sorry to hear that you have had a bad experience with electrolysis.
I’ve looked at your photographs, and although this is not my area of expertise, I suspect that the pitting on your eyebrow is permanent and will not resolve by itself.
However, you may be able to have a dermal filler. This involves injecting collagen (or a synthetic substitute) into the pit to raise it to the level of the surrounding skin. There are several clinics in London which offer this service, at a cost of a few hundred pounds.
However, make sure you proceed with caution and choose a dermatologist who is competent and experienced, as you do not want to make things worse. For example, you could have one small pit filled, leave it for a few months and then see if you are happy with the results before having the rest done.
Obviously this will be an expensive process, but if it gives you peace of mind, it may be worth it.
Its me again.I hope so everybody is fine.I got 5 treatments on my facial hairs all on my cheeks region. As I mentioned before I had acne and had some acne scars on face. But after getting electrolysis I am felling that my cheeks region is not so smooth as before and have more scars like acne scars where I think they were not before. And my family is also thinking that you have more spots on your face than before.I am really confused about this.Sometimes I think that they may be here before but I had not so bad skin before as I remember but now I see spots on my whole cheeks as acne spots.I don’t know what to do either I should explain it to my electrologist because these are looking like acne scars she will consider them from electrolysis or what she will say I am very confused?I need your help guys. These scars are not deep but visible and some people say what is that how you got them and some people say these are like acne scars.I am not feeling good about my skin.
What you think about acne kind of scars or spots they will resolve with time and also hyperpigmentation spots.?
It would be helpful to see an updated, quality photo, since you are asking this again, jimmy. Putting information in your signature and updating it would be especially helpful as I have very little time to go back and read all your posts to refresh my memory.
There is a big difference between spots, scars, and pigmentation. Scars are permanent and something that you only get after some consistent overtreatment. Pigmentation is usually temporary and can be reduced by adjusting settings and with good aftercare. Acne spots have nothing to do with electrolysis.
Thankful to very much for your reply. You can have a look on this pic to have some idea about the scars which are bothering me too much. The link is following
I have circled some places on my pic where skin looks more damaging. Please have a look either these scars will heal or if there any solution to heal them and avoid them in future.?
