will electrolysis really work on vellus hairs? I’ve heard some people say no and other people say it will. Can someone tell me for sure? The ones I have are long and blonde and fine, not the dark coarse ones(which I also have). thanks
Hi Lauren,
This is a really good question, and one I have been meaning to ask my electrologist and post.
My electrologist has commented that she is treating mainly accelerated vellus hair on my face, this is based on the hair structures she removes. I am hoping they will either go back to the fine hairs they originally were or be removed… Is this realistic? I have learnt so far that any hair treated in the growing phase with the correct insertion and energy can be destroyed, but wondered does this also apply to vellus/accelerated vellus? As I view vellus hair much like grass, if it has food and light it’ll come back eventually. Maybe that is a little silly…
OF COURSE IT WILL!!! IT IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL PERMANENTLY AFFECT LIGHT COLORED HAIRS. Sorry. Didn’t mean to shout. If you are wanting 100,000 peach fuzz hairs removed, it will take about 18 -24 months of regular treatments. You need to give your electrologist more than 15 minute appointments and your electrologist needs good vision wear and lighting. Faster modes of thermolysis is highly desirable.
If you don’t have the fundamentals right, you will think that electrolysis does not work, when in fact progress is not seen because the client and electrologist are not approaching light hair with the a top-notch strategy and top-notch tools.
