Hi all, I recently went to a electrologist to have Vellus hair on my foreheAd removed. The hairs are dArk and noticeable. The electrologist advices that the hairs on the forehead were not suitable for treatment as the hairs in that area never stoP growing… I just wanted to ask if that statement was true or what Other professionals thought about this. I was under the imPression that all areas on the body were 100% treatable, and if not what is the best outcome Available. I also wanted to know that if I was to have the area treated by another electrologist would the area be less likely to scab, as the hairs are not as strong as terminal hairs. I have had electrolysis in the past and have always scabbed unfortunately, but these are on much smaller hairs. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
This statement is untrue, and to me an indication that you need to continue looking someone who is not intimmidated by vellus hair. This type of hair demands the highest levels of skill. Scabbing is not inevitable, again it depends on the skill, equipment and needle choice of the operater.
I agree with Christine.
I just want to chime in and say that my sister recently had this area treated.
She had the glabella treated which is a normal place to have electrolysis but our electrologist also recommended removing a lot of the tiny hairs from the centre of the forehead. The reasons being that my sister would pick a lot at the acne on her forehead, which caused some of the hairs to become thicker (this was very obvious looking closely and seeing their strange angles) and that it may also help with the acne.
It’s only 2 weeks later yet but her forehead area is looking fantastic.
I, on the other hand, bleach this area and they are barely visible.
This means that our child is fulfilling her promise? that’s my girl!
In fact acne lesions were producing a stimulation in some follicles surrounding the wound. I am absolutely sure to remove the hair will help her skin and she soon will look like Freida Pinto.
A kiss for the two beautiful “Freidas”.
I agree with Christine whole-heartedly. People do not like scabbing on the face and I don’t blame them. Scabbing does not have to be inevitable. I have very few people that report scabbing on the face. When they do give me feedback, I ask about their aftercare and try to reassure them.
Thankyou for clarifying that, I must have been poorly adviced. I just wanted ask stopitandtidyup if your sister scAbbed in that area whilst having the treatment as i am also worried about scabbing…
What I have learnt is that this is very dependent on the electrologist’s equipment, skill and one’s own individual reaction.
Our electrologist (depilacionelectr) was using an Apilus Platinum (I think mostly in picoflash?) and the Laurier IBProbe. My sister had something like 45mins in the glabella, about the same in the centre of the forehead and at least an hour around each eyebrow and on her hairline. She did not scab in the glabella, middle of forehead or around the eyebrows. There was only swelling. There was some minimal scabbing in hairline area as it was dense and the aim was to widen her forehead in this part. In the above photo of Freida, see the area between the slant of the eyebrow and the forehead? My sister had a tiny gap in this area which continued much more towards the centre of her forehead.
With our old electrologist, using thermolysis on a basic machine, she had treatment around the eyebrows and in the gap between hairline and eyebrow and scabbed in every treated follicle. This electrologist used blend in the glabella to avoid scabbing in this region and would not treat it for too long in one session.
I have this same forehead problem (and started a short diary months ago but didn’t really keep up with it). I have now had about 5 months of consistent treatment on the forehead and upper lip and I have to say, breaking out is a common issue on the forehead, at least for me. I have never had acne before in my life until I started treatment and I now accept it as part of the process.
This week I had the fortunate opportunity to see James in Buffalo and his treatment was very impressive in the area. I was barely swollen, no scabs (I usually scab near the eyebrow but nowhere else) and more impressively, no whiteheads AT ALL. I usually get clusters of little whiteheads towards the center of the forehead.
With that said, even with my normal treatment with my electrologist AND with the rougher side effects, I let it all heal once for 3 months with no treatment and besides a few hyperpigmented spots (now fading bc of rosehip oil), I dont have any scars (knock on wood) so I know it will eventually heal up fine.
Thanks for your kind words. I was happy that I could help you out, and hope to see you again some time.
Now you see why I try to get my industry to move towards the future, and deliver the treatment that you experienced first hand, and took the time to comment on.
polspring – I’m happy to hear that things are going well for you. I’ve been using rosehip oil on my skin for the past couple of weeks and have definitely noticed an improvement too. It is also encouraging to hear that you received good results with your appointment. I hope to hear more of your progress soon!
