I am currently doing my upper arms with electrolysis in the UK where i live (had around 18-20 hours done), but i’m currently in my home country for the whole summer and i’m thinking of doing a laser session just to get through the summer. Can this negatively affect my electrolysis procedure?
Moreover, if yes, is waxing or IPL a ‘better’(safer) temporary option as a ‘one-off’ thing?
You can do anything you want. The hair will come back, it’s loyal stuff, and you can start your electrolysis treatments when you return to the UK. If it throws you off schedule a little bit, maybe that is less important than being hair-free for the summer.
Laser may even kill some of the hair present or it could stimulate more hair in this particular area, so you have to weigh this.
I will give my opinion and experience on the matter of laser. Unless every follicle on your upper arms is producing a non-vellus hair, you stand a chance of stimulating growth in this area. This goes for shoulders too. It is possible that those hairs would begin to grow in the future anyway and you sped up the process.
I would not recommend lasers. Hairs on upper arms are generally finer to begin with. Is yours not? I would think any kind of laser may end up stimulating hair growth so i would not take such a risk and make an ok situation worse
I would strongly recommend for you not to touch this area with lasers. It’s the area that’s most prone to induced growth from laser treatments and could activate follicles, making your electrolysis treatments last a lot longer and hinder the progress you’ve made.
I would stick to your electrolysis. Why mess up a good thing? I have seen some good reduction from laser, and it has it’s place, but I’ve seen the reduction on my stomach and chest. Upper arms and shoulders is where I had laser induced hair growth. I’m now having to go back and get all of that taken care of with electrolysis. Look at my profile to how much that has cost me
