I am thinking about getting electrolysis on my (male) beard and wanted to get feedback from other males who have had it done.
If it is helpful in providing your input, I am a caucasian male, and my beard grows in thick - by “thick” I mean that my facial hair is thick (each strand) and also a dense amount of hair follicles.
I am not looking to remove all of my facial hair - I still want to preserve my masculinity. Instead, I am looking to lower the beard-line on my cheeks by removing the hair there, and also remove some of the “density” (number of hair follicles) in the goatee area particularly near the bottom of my chin.
My motivation for doing this is two-fold: First, because I get razor burn when shaving so less density means less tugging on the hairs since they’re thick and there’s a lot of them. Secondly, I do not like the “5 o’clock” shadow that I have when I am clean shaven, and would rather my skin be “flesh” color than darker hue it has due to the black pigmentation of my hair follicles.
*** It is very important that the electrolysis make it look natural. It seems most electrolysists are good at removing areas of hair, but they aren’t as skilled in “feathering” the hair so that it looks like a natural gradient rather than lots of hair and suddenly no hair.
I would like to hear from other males who have had this done (reducing density):
- what was your experience like?
- How long did it take you? What was the cost?
- Does it look natural?
- Any scarring?
- Any recommends of people in the NYC-metro area?
Most important to me is that it looks natural once the procedure is done.
Please share as much as you can since I would like to make an informed decision before taking the plunge.
