Electrolysis...laser...bleach....meds?? Which 1!?

The pictures are scaled so you may have to zoom into the pics to see some of the hair better.

But yeah…this is a long post, but essentially I am asking what kind of hair removal method should I use on which body parts and what can I expect from using this hair removal method, particularly with electrolysis which is what I am considering (price, time spent getting results, etc…)

As you can see: my arms, legs and back of my neck are disgustingly hairy. As much as I’d like permanent hair removal and be smooth as…I’d be happy to have a significant reduction, like if arms and legs went from that to the middle, or even lower part of this arm:

I’d be more than happy enough with that…as long as my back, butt and neck are relatively smooth. my concerns are with electrolysis:

  1. How much can get done in one session with that much hair.

  2. The cost of getting all that done.

  3. How many years it’ll take me to see a result similar to the one above.

Another thing is, I’ve already had laser hair removal (7 sessions) on my lower back and butt…it’s been a few good months, I think at least 3-4 since my last treatment. I’ll just give ya’all a link to this pic, I kept it decent as possible but still I don’t anyone really wants to look at my fat behind. xD

From what I can see, the hair where it was really thick is pretty much gone…the hair on the sides, which weren’t so thick…well, didn’t go over so well as you can see.

The other issue is my back hair…its by no means a carpet, but it is there and if you look at the picture the hair gives away where I got lasered and where I didn’t. Which is why I can’t laser my arms, because my upper arm hair while prominent is not thin enough to be lasered so there would be an unflattering patch if I just laser my lower arms…at least I’d think so. The hairs on my back are thin black hairs as you can see in these pics:

For some reason I couldn’t get a decent pic of my upper arm hair though I can assure you it’s much thicker than the back hair you see there. But yeah, these are definitely far too thin to be treated by laser.

Therefore I am considering electrolysis to treat my back and neck…but I have questions for what I should expect, like:

  1. How many hours will it take to do all the back and neck?

  2. About how many sessions should I expect the hairs to be at least 80-90% gone?..the back doesn’t have to be perfect, just a good enough reduction that I can bleach the remaining hairs to make it virtually unnoticeable without a microscope

  3. How much can I expect it to cost me?

Also, I am not sure if I should start with electrolysis on my arms and legs or if I should just do laser to get rid of a huge heap of it first because I can only imagine the ridiculous amounts of hours or even years spent getting one whole leg done with the way it is now. Apart from the red dots, the results on my butt were not too bad…not outstanding, but a really significant reduction.

I am also considering some sort of oral med…I’m aware of two side effects that all of them have which are the growing of man boobs and the shrinking of genitalia. My logic is I can always remove the man boobs and I don’t really like sex anyway so impotence won’t be much of a loss for me lol…my libido is extremely low for a guy, in fact it is just about non-existent. but I don’t know, is there anything else I should know about oral meds?..I am assuming oral meds are much cheaper than electrolysis or LHR, because this one place I saw was offering permanent removal using electrolysis on the upper lip for like AU$1345 (I live in Australia)…see the link below for the ad:

http://www.permanence.com.au/perm_190x135_v5.pdf

Now call me crazy…but doesn’t that sound extremely expensive for JUSTthe upper lip? With that price on just an upper lip, I’m afraid I could be spending millions of dollars which is well…ridiculous to me, I would prefer not to spend more than AU$20,000.

I don’t know…I just need advice on what would be the best course of action to take with the kinds of hair I have and my budget. Essentially I am looking for:

*A reduction in arms and legs at the very least
*Little to no hair left on back, neck and bottom.

To anyone who bothered reading all this…thank you.

A professional can do very fast insertions as James (other electrologists can also insert very fast but I’ve only seen James) and that has a Apilus Platinum, it can make your leg to below the knee in about 8 hours ( first photo). If treatment begins as you have long hair, removing over 80% in the first sweep of all the hairs. I would use the Multiplex because it is the fastest and can remove hair permanently over 1500 hairs per hour.
So the elimination of 80% of your two legs can cost U.S. $ 1600.
I assume you’re in Australia, you may contact Christine O’Connell? She also has a Platinum Apilus, and 30 years of experience guarantee fast insertions.

I’ve just looked up her website and lucky for me, she lives in Sydney! =D And she charges AU$110 for an hour.

Just to make sure I’ve understood…in one clearing, which means the hairs on my legs from the knees down get shot/electrocuted/(whatever the right word is) will result in an 80% reduction, and this will take 8 hours total to complete meaning for an 80% reduction on my lower legs, it will cost me AU$880??

This sounds almost too good to be true, so I want to make sure I’m understanding you correctly. =P

Christine can speak for herself about time and cost issues. I would advise you to look into laser for your lower legs and forearms for reduction purposes. For areas where laser can stimulate more hair to grow (upper back, upper arms, shoulders), I would consider a speedy electrologist. Pick an area that bothers you the most and focus. Perhaps start with your legs and forearms. Find a great laser specialist who has an alexandrite laser. For temporary relief, you can but a body shaver with a five setting adjustable length comb where you can trim both short and long body hair to tone it down a bit. It is for wet or dry shaving and costs about $40.00 now (until inflation starts slapping all of us on the azzzz in the near future).

I know you probably don’t want to hear it but I think your description of your body parts as “disgustingly hairy” and your willingness to accept serious side effects like “man boobs” or loss of libido is kind of worrying - your perspective seems a bit off. To me your body looks just fine - to my brain men are supposed to have some body hair & I certainly wouldn’t describe yours as excessive. (Sorry for sticking my oar in but just felt bad reading your post)

In your picture we can see that:

You have very low density of hairs. In most people, it is necessary to remove 3 hairs from each group. In your case, only 2 hairs should be eliminated (the third is invisible). This is very important to calculate the total cost of full treatment. The hairs are very long and for that reason they seem to be more than they really are. In the area of the calf muscle, the distance between each set of 2 hair is about half a Cm2, that is, treating to 4 hairs you have 1 Cm2 of bald for all your life. Each shot with Multiplex is deadly for the hair if the hair has a small follicle like is your case. An average of 800 hairs per hour would be about 20 cm2 of skin? I’m very bad with math.

You can ask Christine an hour of treatment and assess the area that can be treated at that time. This will give you a rough idea of time as you need. But you must take into account that the density is not the same in the ankle area as in the area of your calf muscle, so in areas such as ankle or knee she can not clean a lot of skin surface.

Hairiness is definitely relative. I would consider myself smooth if I was only as hairy as you!! But, i still wish you the best of luck! J

Dude my legs are just as hairy as yours and all I do is trim them down with clippers like once a month. not too short just like a #1 or 2 with the guard. Diffirence is huge and it looks natural as well.
And hairy forearms are very normal for men. I’m just saying you can save yourself a lot of money if you didn’t go for permanent options for those areas. But yeah good luck either way.
