Electrolysis + IPL? (when IPL caused hair growth)

Hi there, just had a question about using IPL in conjunction with electrolysis, even if IPL caused the initial hair growth.

I went for IPL sessions for a few years and it worked well on my legs/bikini line.

However, not so much on my upper lip.

My practitioner used the machine to catch the odd long hair round other parts of my face/neck/chin but this stimulated noticeable coarse hair growth all over theses areas that i certainly didn’t have before!

I have since been having electrolysis every fortnight for 2 years in these areas.

In between these sessions though noticeable hairs often come through which i sometimes shave.

Do you think it’s safe if I use IPL (have a Philips home machine) in-between my electrolysis sessions or will it affect the progress?

I have Mediterranean/light brown skin type, age 27.

Oh, I wouldn’t. This majorly throws off the hair growth cycles and makes getting finished with electrolysis all the more challenging.

Is the Phillips home IPL like the Tria?

How long are your electrolysis sessions every fortnight? After two years, you should be well done.

Yes i think the machines are quite similar.

Oh that’s interesting that it should be nearly done by now! I have 45 minute sessions with the focus mainly below my cheekbones, chin and neck (only occassionally on the upper lip). Should i be going weekly instead?

No, not weekly. I’m curious to how much hair you have. If its peach fuzz, that can require more time.

Apologies for the late reply - didn’t login in for a while! I have been going weekly since then and hairs still seem to appear regularly (dark ones, not peach), particularly on my chin

At £50 a week, i’m considering just going back to using ipl (philips lumea this time instead of practitioner) and giving up on the electrolysis at this point.
