Hi, I have been contemplating getting electrolysis done on my cheeks where there is hair growing just above my beard. I have been plucking hair on the cheeks for some time and now it seems that some of the hair is getting darker and thicker. Does plucking hair make it darker and thicker or does it stop hair growth?

I don’t like the extra hair at all and want to get it permanently removed. Is electrolysis the way to go and will it be painful on the cheeks?

I will really appreciate it if someone can please give me some good and reliable electrologist referrals in Manhattan, Queens or Brooklyn?

Hi Sam.

Electrolysis sounds like a good option for the cheek area you describe. Yes, plucking this area can cause the hairs to grow back stronger and sturdier. I would suggest that you look for an electrologist that is proficient in the blend method as well as thermolysis. I like using both depending on the type of hair presented. If hair is deep, dark, thick, I tend to lean toward the blend method on the face, but that is my personal preference. Other practioners have their own way of attacking hair and success happens,too.

Just get going and do it. Stay consistent and patient as this may take a 9-12 months to do it right. Soon you can mark this off your
“to do” list.

That would be a great place to start your search for an electrologist, but it has been recommended a thousand times on hairtell, that you get a couple consults and treatments to settle on the person right for you.

YB was a poster from 2004. Since this thread has not been too active since then, but maybe someone else will offer up information for good electrologists in Brooklyn.

What areas are you considering for electrolysis?

ideally my whole body!!!
I want to laser my legs and brazillian area…and maybe arms
the rest i want to do eletrolysis (lip, chin, jawline, stomach) lol
this is sad

I realize that this thread is from years ago, but Tamara or anyone else, if you are still lurking, don’t delay hair removal because you’re on a budget. I’m confident that we’ll work it out.
