Electrolysis in London

Hi,

I’ve been looking to get into electrolysis- find someone good and go on a weekly basis. The Parkside place is good but very far from me, the Wimbledon woman hurt WAY too much- I don’t recommend it and she seemed desperate to get new customers…

I am wondering what other places you have been happy with? I searched the board and there doesn’t seem to be a short list of good places around.

As far as I know Parkside is the only reliable place, many hairtell members have treatment there now after searching for alternatives.

How far is it really? An hour or two one way travel time seems typical for a lot of people for good electrolysis treatment.

Hello fellow south londoner!

Just like you I can’t see myself travelling accross London every 2 weeks.
Been very happy with my practitioner who is based in South East London, Tricia who works at Beauty Plus on Forest Hill Road, not far from East Dulwich.
Don’t know if that’s really suitable for you if you’re in South West London though but here is another recommendation just in case.

Have you looked at the BIAE members directory?

The BIAE lists a woman who works at Toni & Guy in Kensington so I am going to try there. I don’t see myself commuting every week across London.

Caro, how long have you been seeing your practitioner? Did you try others and then find her to be your best bet?

You don’t need to commute every week. With electrolysis, you need to schedule long enough treatments up front to clear the hair of offending hair. Then you can come in every 3-4 weeks if you want - the important thing is that the session is long enough to remove all offending hair so that you leave each time with a full clearance.

I think you should at least go for a consultation at Parkside so you can use it as a benchmark for how treatment should be.

I’ve been on HairTell for some time now and am not enthused by the level or quality of electrolysis treatment in London; too many bad stories. The Parkside electrologists are really the ones to receive positive comments from multiple users.

There is a recent thread by Charlie_E (male) who has started treatment there too.

Also, from my experience Sharon is very fast (as well as actually treating the hairs properly). This matters a lot to clear areas quicker.

Hi,

Sorry for the late reply. Yes, I had another practionner in East Dulwich on Lordship Lane before. She went for a high current straight away. Ended up with a bit hyperpigmentation and very long recovery after each session.
Thanks to this forum I realised some practionners are good & some aren’t! This type of reaction wasn’t normal & I looked for someone else. I then found this Tricia on Forest Hill Road and definitely happy with her!

Having said that, I may not have been happy with the 1st lady but she may have had clients who swear by her work so it depends on each person I guess.
Definitely best do 1 session in various ones until you find the right one for you. I wish I had done that 1st instead of suffering for weeks!
Try Parkside too, some people strongly recommend this place. Just like you I don’t see myself travelling that far but it seems to be worth a try from what I hear.

Good luck with everything!

There is someone on BIAE who works at Toni & Guy in Kensington so I am going to try her. I am surprised I haven’t found any reviews if it is Toni & Guy offering it… I’ll do that tomorrow and let you know how I find it.

Emily, have you asked them how many hours per week she does electrolysis? She may be their resident beautician doing all beauty treatments. There’s nothing wrong with that but I’d want my electrologist to spend a good proportion of her week solely on electrolysis as well.

OK good idea, thanks. I thought that she was renting out a room at Toni & Guy- so I called up and asked. She is. I asked for how long has she been doing it? They said 30 years. She does have other beauty treatments on offer so you’re right, I should definitely ask how many hours a week she’s doing electrolysis.
