Electrolysis in London

Hello

Has anyone had electrolysis done in London? If so where, and what was your experience like?

I am considering going to either EXM salon or 171 Salon - both do electrolysis and both are in the Islington area. I am also considering possibly having a chat with the beautician at my local gym (LA Fitness) as she offers electrolysis. What sort of questions should I ask? What should I look out for?

Has anyone had any good/bad experiences with electrolysis in London?

Thanks for your help

As you have had no responses so far, I suggest looking at the BIAE members list. British Institute and Association of Electrolysis.

If you’re considering Islington, try Parkside Beauty Clinic.

It has 3 BIAE registered electrologists.

Yep, I’d be happy to recommend Parkside as well. I started with them 5 weeks ago after reading stoppit’s posts (thanks stoppit! I thought I should finally comment on this forum after having a fairly long discussion with Zara and Sharon at Parkside trying to identify who you were. It left me feeling like a bit of a stalker).
All the staff at Parkside seem really lovely but I have only had treatments with Sharan. She’s going to be away next month though and I haven’t decided yet if I want to wait for her to return or have someone else treat me.

I too haven’t sampled any other London electrologists but as you will see on BAIE, the options are quite limited.

I’ll probably start a post at some point about my treatment thus far.

I have to say, Parkside does sound all very promising and I’m almost certain now that I’m going to pick up the phone and arrange a consult with Sharon.

WHAT? She’s going away next month? She will be back soon right?

Hi kdp,

Glad you got on well. You should have pm’ed me and I would have told you who I was!

I’ve never been treated by anyone other than Sharon purely because I feel comfortable with her. If you do try Elaine or one of the other electrologists, do let us know how you get one!

ihavehair - I haven’t been in a few weeks so I didn’t know about the holiday but you can be sure it’s just her yearly break. Sharon has been at Parkside for a long time and I’m sure she will be there for a while yet

About to say. Lol, I haven’t even started yet but hopefully it won’t coincide with that.

Thanks for the info guys! I am going to speak to the lady at my gym, EXM salon and the Parkside people and see what they have to say…xBx

where in london are you based?

I had my first treatment with Emma at Parkside and I would highly recommend her for the people who haven’t started yet (since I guess most people don’t like changing practitioners unless they have to)

I have had 4.5 hours of treatment with Sharon so far and this was my first half hour with Emma.

I did about 20mins of upper lip and 10 mins between my brows.

In my opinion, I felt she had quicker insertions than Sharon. That said, I would stil go back to Sharon once she returns because I have been getting the sides of my face reduced (as opposed to the full clearance on my upper lip) and I am too paranoid to trust anyone else with that.

I thought it would be worth posting this if people are having a tough time getting slots with Sharon

Hi kdp,

How was your skin after the treatment with Emma as compared to a session with Sharon?

Hey
Sorry for the extremely delayed response. I’m not sure if you are still interested since Sharon’s back but anyway.

Before I answer your question, I’d just like to say that I always get a few whiteheads on the sides of my upper lip regardless of the settings Sharon uses (we have tried to play with this quite a bit). These stay for couple of days and sometimes I get new ones appear a day or two after treatment. I’m quite good with my aftercare and hardly ever wear makeup.
All this heals within 5-6 days but sometimes small dark spots remain. And my spots always take ages to heal.

After my treatment with Emma, my skin took it a little worse but that could be owing to the fact that more hairs were treated and closer to each other. I was slightly red and quite bumpy for nearly 48 hours. Some of these bumps turned into whiteheads, others didn’t. Most of it healed within 6 days but left a few dark spots behind.

I didn’t actually go back until Sharon returned because I was having other skin problems as well (not electrolysis related) and I didn’t want to add to it at that time.

Good luck with your treatment !

Most people who use Tea Tree Oil overnight during the first 72 hours don’t have problems with white bumps. You may want to give it a try. It also helps the skin heal faster.
