Electrolysis help

Hi everyone, I am a 23 year old female suffering from hirsutism. I first notived the hair when I was 19/20, at the time it was just fuzzy peachy hair (but dense on the right side of my face) so I didn’t do anything to it except bleach it. but eventually I decided to get laser hair removal. So I did a total of 10 laser sessions and it didn’t help at all so i stopped going (in fact it stimulated more hair growth on my neck area). I guess I should mention where the hair growth is? so i have hair mostly on my chin and the right side of my face, left side has scattered hair but not too bad and now on my neck as well; all thanks to laser.

So i stopped doing laser in december 2003 and i decided to start waxing and epilating, which caused acne and the hair to grow coarse. i looked into electrolysis at this point and started on it near the end of june 2014. once i started electrolysis i didn’t do anything to my face (no trim, no wax, no bleach, nothing). so i started on june 19 (2014) and i have been going every week since then. i do 1 hour sessions every week. the first 3 times i did 30 min sessions then i decided it needed more time. anyways so since then i haven’t missed a single session despite 2 jobs; i really want the hair gone so i am being persistent my electrologist tells me that i have high tolerance of pain so she uses a high frequency. but recently my elextrologist went on vacation for 2 weeks and it’s going to be 2 weeks in 3 days and i notice hair growth on my chin, it seems like a lot of it is growing back.

now i am kind of scared. my electrologist is a very nice lady, she has about 20 years of experience and she’s always so busy with so many clients. if i don’t make my appointment at least 1 week ahead of time i likely won’t get one for the following week. anyways she’s very good (no pigmentation or scars) she uses thermolysis method and she uses a microscope while doing it. she told me that i would start to notice a difference in about 6 months and it’s been 5 months now (june to november) so i don’t know what to make of this regrowth on my chin especially?

sorry about the long story, i just needed to share because i am feeling sad right now :frowning:

Hey can.girl, so you’ve been going once a week since June, for an hour each time? Is every hour giving you a “full clearance,” or are you just working on parts of the face?

Also, what does it feel like when she pulls the hair out at the end–can you feel anything that resembles plucking? When the hair grows back in (like now), does it have a fine end or a blunt end?

hey! yeah for an hour each time, at the start she didn’t give a full clearance; she would work on the sides one week and on the neck the following week but the last few weeks she has been able to get both the sides and the neck in one hour. but i should mention that she only works on the coarse hair, she doesn’t do anything to the thin hair because she wants to do all the coarse hair and once we are done with that she says we will move on to the rest, less visible hair.

i don’t feel anything when she pulls the hair out, when i do feel something i tell her and she increases the frequency and then it’s fine. the hair growing back now doesn’t have blunt ends (it doesn’t feel like it’s been shaved.

Edit: I just checked my calendar and I counted a total of 22.45 hours so far.

I am thinking of booking a 2 full hour appointment and clearing everything up (including the thin hair) and then continue with the 1 hour every week, do you think it’s a good idea?

I’m not a professional, only a customer like yourself, but to me everything sounds fine if you’re not feeling any plucking and the hair is growing back with a soft tip (I had one session with “instant regrowth” early on, and it really is that: blunt hairs growing out of scabs; lovely!). Hang in there!

Also, if she’s good and you don’t feel too much pain, why not? Be aware that the redness/puffiness might take a little while longer to subside, if you’re working in a condensed area.

Yes I am just going to have to be patient I guess, I just expected to see results earlier! Thanks for responding, and she’s a lovely lady I am very comfortable going to her so I am going to do that extra hour
