Electrolysis & Fertility

Happy New Year everyone!

I have a question that i am having a hard time finding info about. I understand that electrolysis is generally safe and is in use for many years but there is no information about this specific issue.

Is electrolysis 100% safe to be performed on the scrotum?

Can it effect the sperm in any way?

Can it have any effect on future babies (defects etc)?

Maybe someone knows of any published articles etc about this.

Any info is appreciated.

Thanks

While I would assure you that there is nothing to worry about, you will need to look to others to feed you links to published data on the subject.

Unfortunately I think that’s why this thread has largely gone unanswered. I know for myself I am not aware of any potential sterility issues but as I dont have the experience to say one way or the other hadnt said anything. The effect is usually pretty locallized to the follicle so I dont see how but there could be things I’m unaware of.

While there is no published study documenting any negative side effect of electrolysis on a pregnant woman, most are told to avoid work during pregnancy just as a precaution. Meanwhile, there is not even an urban legend of someone having birth defects, or problems breast feeding due to electrolysis.

You can take the side of fear without cause, or you can see the absence of evidence as interim proof of the negative. That is, is seems to be perfectly safe.

Thank you for being part of this discussion. I meant about the possible effect on the male sperm quality and potential defects to a baby as a result. Electrolysis on a pregnant women is a whole different thing i guess.

The above link takes you to a nice, clear description of sperm production.
What I was really looking for was confirmation of how long spermatogenesis takes. It seems to be between 64 and 74 days according to this.

If you were being super cautious, you might want to avoid conceiving after the use of a galvanic current on the scrotum for this amount of time. I can’t imagine that an indirect or RF current could have any internal effect though.

Not an especially scientific answer London Eye, but an interesting question.
