Electrolysis experience so far...

Hi, so since November 6, I have had 6 15 minutes sessions and 1 30 minute session on my face. I started slow and worked my way to 30 minutes. I couldn’t go for three weeks due to work.
I have a bad facial hair problem, course dark hair wrapped around my face. It’s pretty much a beard.

I had laser three years ago, but the hair always grew back after a month.

Anyways, so I have been going to the same woman since I started.
I really like her. She is nice, seems experienced and is 15 minutes from my house. She charges $24 for 15 minutes and $32 for 30.

She doesn’t wear gloves and I don’t see her wash her hands. Her work area is clean though. I guess she switches probes and she puts the tweezers in alcohol. She has a sink in the room, but the liquid soap is the same as when I started months ago.

She has started working on finer chin hairs and seems to move outward and up. She tries to get every hair and sees the ones sticking out. She works fast and I always see the spots she has done. I am red like 10 minutes after and then it fades. She applies aloe when I’m there then I apply it when I’m at home. I have not had any skin irritations or problems yet.

She used to disinfectant the area being treated with alcohol, but she hasn’t done that the past few sessions, is that okay?

The three weeks I didn’t go most the hair grew back, some didn’t or was finer. I only did 1 1/2 hours of treatment at that time though.

In the week since treatment again some hair grew back, it’s hard to tell since the spots are small and she started on finer hairs I don’t really maintain anyway.

I had my 30 minute treatment yesterday and she took a nice amount of hair off, 30 minutes is what I need.
I wasn’t getting anywhere at 15.

I use ice and that helps with pain. Sometimes spots hurt more than others and sometimes treatments hurt more than others too. I do feel her tugging or pulling hair. Again I have course hair and they are being treated for the first time. I don’t know what is normal though.

So, what should I be looking for now to know if it’s working? My next appointment is Tuesday, I go every Tuesday for 30 minutes.

Should the hair regrow by then? Should it be finer? What are some things I should be noticing?
How does everything sound?
I am still looking for someone else to try out, but she is really the closest.

Thanks for the help.

I was like you for the first few sessions, I thought it wasn’t working for me but I stuck at it, it was about 3 months into treatment when I noticed that some of the coarse hair wasn’t growing back, now this was going twice a week 30 minute sessions before I noticed results.

I say this a lot , but for some reason people never hear it, if you are going to get facial electrolysis get as much treatment as you can early on. It seems to make it go better. Also, expect you will initially feel like no progress is made, acctually there is often a period about 4-6 months in where many people get deeply depressed about this. then a couple months later it all seems to fall into place.

Thanks for the advice. I am being patient and am really hoping it works. I just want to be on the look out for any red flags or what I should be noticing, so I know I am not wasting my time and money. If this works it would be a dream come true!

So far I have had two hours of treatment, so I know I have a long way to go.

Ok, I have a 30 minute session tomorrow. Some hairs started regrowing 3 days after treatment. Now a week later the spots she did some hair has regrown, seems a little lighter or finer. How many days after treatment should the hair be regrowing? I just want to do everything I can to know it’s working. Like when will the hair stop regrowing? She has done these spots like 5 times already. It’s just hard to tell I guess how much hair I had to begin with though. I do have a bad facial hair problem. She might be very good at what she does, but I just have trouble trusting because I’ve all the stuff I read about electrolysis not working because the electrlogist was plucking, undertreating etc. I just am afraid of wasting money, pain and time.

It’s like I would know if the hairs were treated based on how fast they regrew. When I pluck hairs they regrow in like 2 days. So if hair regrows in 3+ does that mean they were treated correctly?

Thanks for the help.

Ok I just had a 30 minute session done and boy did it hurt. It was the most painful season yet. She did some more course hair today, but usually that doesn’t hurt as much. Why do some treatments hurt more than others? My sister gets treated first and when she says it painful I know mine will be too. We both think some are more painful then others. So, since we agree on painful sessions, it has nothing to do with our bodies hormones/dehydration, it must be the settings. Last week it didn’t really hurt and this week was painful. The hair slid out easier today though.

Why was it so painful today? I hope it
goes back to feeling like it did last week, but still have results.

Now I’m tired from the pain and my jaw is sore.

Thanks for the help and advice.
