electrolysis - experience in Moscow

Hello!

I’m 29 and live in Moscow. I am not covered with hair from head to toes, but what I have on my legs is not ok for me. I have dark hair and pale skin, so every single dark hair is very visible on my skin. When I decided to make some permanent epilation, I thought about photoepilation. But my dermatologist told me my skin is to sensitive for it. I think it is true, I never can be tanned, I just become sun burned. My skin is very thin and there are a lot of blood vessels under it.
So I was recomended to make electolysis and began last November. It is a good “professional epilation center” in the center of Moscow. All technician have medical education. Good hygiene, golden needles, veeery expensive. Till now I’ve got 4 procedures on my armpits, legs, stomach and bikini. Second one was in April, and the result could be seen easily - 50 % hair was gone. But then I had third procedure in May and forth in June and what I see now looks like about 25 % hair was gone and 25 % reappeared but now they are thinner and not so dark. I have read here about phases of growth of hair etc. My specialist remove all the hair she see, no matter whether they are dark or not, fully grown or just 1-2 mm, sometimes even the hair I can’t see, they are still under the skin and she somehow removes them. I am not sure this is the right thing to do.
And perhaps someone knows some good specialist here in Moscow? I have not some much time to finish epilation. Next year I will move to Spain for work and want to get rid of my hair. ))

If your hair is relatively coarse, laser would be great on it. You’re exactly the skin and hair type laser loves. It’s also great on bikin and underarms.

“Epilation” is not generally the term used for electrolysis. This is interesting.

Electrolysis takes 12-18 months to finish as that’s how long it takes to go through all the cycles. What you’re seeing is normal. Though I would go with laser for any dark coarse growth. It’s more efficient.

This progress sounds fine. I have treated a client who had excellent treatment in Moscow. The treatment was almost completed ( entire legs including bikiniline ) when I saw her. Dont worry if you are not completely finished when you get to Spain, there are some fantastic practitioners there.

Thank you for your opinion! The most important thing is to find the perfect professional - than everything would be ok and all the money and time and suffering will be worth it.

I was hoping, that perhaps someone knows exact names of good practitioners here in Moscow and as well as in Spain, so I would be able to contact them.

I have no prejudice against laser treatment. But the problem is that I’ve heard several stories that some clinics use very old apparats for laser and the people are uneducated and the clients got burned. That is really bad.
By the way, I forgot to ask about ingrowth of hairs. Now, after several elecrolysis treatments it is a huge problem for me. There are a lot of small, nearly invisible hair that ingrow on my legs. I use scrabs, but that helps not much. Is it normal or not?

I haven’t seen any recommendations for electrologists in Moscow here, but Jossie is a resident expert on the forum and is located in Spain. She posts here daily.

The beauty of laser treatments is that it gets rid of ingrowns immediately. Yes, there are issues with bad laser clinics and machines. Same applies to electrolysis. That’s why we have these forums - to help you get good treatments with either method.

Take a look at our laser FAQs at the link below.

The only clue I have, regarding where my former client obtained treatment in Moscow, is that it was a large clinic, with four electrologists practising there.

There is always some confusion in termins for me. What is electrolysis is called “electro epilation” here in Moscow. And as an alternative there is “photo epilation”. Is this photoepilation the same as the laser treatment you recommend - I am not sure

Yes, you are correct. Electro epilation is electrolyisis and photoepilation is anything that uses light. So photoepilation can refer to Ipl or laser.
