Electrolysis destroyed my face's muscles. Pffffff

Ok, I know almost every faction of my face, every wrinkle, and I know everything I have on it.

Here’s the picture. After the electrolysis sesion, pictures 1 and 2 are how my smile was.

It ALWAYS was like that. I checked all my pictures. Always like that.

After the electrolysis sesion a new wrinkle appeared. It’s the picture number 3. It was never there. I hopped It would dissapear but it has been 6 months since that electrolysis sesion and it has not changed at all.

So what can I do? Nothing. I’m just fucked.

This is a very close picture of the after-electrolysis sesion.

I guess its hard to see something weird on it. They just probably micro-killed muscular tissue and now my smile has changed.

It’s just like a nightmare. A fucking nightmare.

First of all, I don’t know if your attention to every fraction of your face is healthy for you.
Secondly, I had the same area treated and didn’t notice any wrinkles. On the contrary, there was a significant improvement in skin quality.

I suspect that this may be a natural process of aging. When I was 22 I noticed a new line around my eye forming in less than a year.

I’m not disputing the OP’s claim, but only interjecting a couple possibilities.

First, I can’t think of any electrologist that would insert beyond the skin into the muscle itself! If that happened over-and-over there would have been hemorrhagic bleeding (and bruising) and a great deal of pain in the face for a long time.

Second, the type of “wrinkle” you are showing is really a “fold” in the dermis itself. What we usually consider wrinkles are fairly high in the skin and caused, mostly, by aging and sun exposure. Wrinkles from (bad) electrolysis don’t look like this; they look like very tiny thread-like surface lines.

I suppose if you smile more broadly you will see more “folds” in your face. I have to say that I see new wrinkles, spots, crusts and other signs of degradation almost daily. Kind of the Portrait of Dorian Grey in real life! I’m starting to look like a mummy!

And, you are surely not “fucked” because I see a very handsome face with beautiful teeth in the photos.

Still, if you actually DO see a new “fold,” one of the many fillers will render this nice and plump. I would recommend “Radiesse” (nearly permanent), if you want to give this a shot. I can’t tell you how many “stars” get plumped up at 6-month regular appointments. One guy in particular must have a few quarts of filler in the old “kisser” by now.

Then maybe electrolysis destroyed part of the dermis?

Because it’s very strange this wrinkle appeared RIGHT AFTER the electrolysis appointment.

I also have to say I have some of those small wrinkles caused by electrolysis in another part (100% sure about those, are just 2 or 3 and I’m trying to not worry about them). Are those supposed to heal?

Well, thanks about your answer. I’m not considering Radiesse at the moment but I’m waiting for a similar procedure with fibroblasts wich is kinda new and more natural (they extract you a skin fragment from behind the ears). But it has not arrived in Spain and anyways it’s gonna be still expensive.

I’d also have to wonder where they would get a probe that long? Were they converting sewing machine needles? The point is, electrolysis is a localized reaction in the follicle. It is not physically possible to go deep enough with the probe to cause muscular damage.

I get lines too. You’ll notice more of them as you get older.By the way, your after electrolysis picture it looks like the treatment was very well done with little irritation. My hats off to the practitioner.

Then if it can’t cause muscular damage, what about some of the dermis got micro-damaged making the wrinkle appear?

Damage to the dermis can happen, but does not yield this “perfect” structural crease in the skin. As I said, the wrinkle from electrolysis-damage would look like a meandering thread and would not move with the facial muscles.

Look at the palm of your hand. These folds in the dermis are structural; like the ones in your face. As we age we get less fat and the already-existing folds in the collagen layer (that we are born with) become more pronounced.

As we age, sun damages the collagen and it “shreads,” consequently we get fine “crinkles” in the skin. I have a ton of these and I look like a damned PRUNE! A PRUNE!!

Huh?

You’re also flexing your mouth a lot more, notice how much more your teeth are exposed from picture one to three. Maybe a deeper smile brings out the wrinkles? I’m 31, i smoke and i drink excessively, I’ve had electrolysis done on my face and i haven’t noticed any deepening of wrinkles on the places that i’ve had it done. Although sadly, i’ve noticed a line on my forehead…

Nah it’s not like this. As I said, this wrinkle wasn’t there the day after electrolysis and never before.
Actually, as more as I flex, the wrinkle tends to disappear.
I can post pictures without almost flexing where the wrinkle is there.

Of course you didnt notice any wrinkle, I’m not saying everytime you do electrolysis you get a wrinkle. But this time… I’m almost sure it happened.

My theory is that it micro destroyed a little of the dermis and as I have a veeeeery thin skin, the direction of the wrinkle just changed, making a double wrinkle.

Very nice everything to be honest

Have you had any more electrolysis sessions in the six months since?

I guess if you believe it was from the electrolysis no one will be able to convince you that it’s not. That’s fine, even if you’re wrong (or not wrong) it doesn’t affect much either way. The wrinkle is there now.

You just have to decide if the hair removal is worth a wrinkle.

Perhaps the swelling from the treatment has given you a temporary volume change in the skin; it takes very little to make such changes. Remember, swelling, although you aren’t aware of it, lasts a very long time (technically a year).

Furthermore, I have learned to never discount the experience of a patient … despite what I “think or know” is the physical reality. People know their own body (mostly).

One of the great mistakes of “full-beard-removal-people” is having a lot of on-going treatments (weekly or more). Well, not really a terrible mistake. But here’s what they experience.

During the treatment time, say a year or so, the face remains slightly swollen. During this time, the face often looks BETTER than the patient remembers because all the lines and wrinkles are “puffed out.” Indeed, even the zapper-damage that might have happened does not show up because of the swelling. And then, no more treatments.

It takes months post treatment, but eventually the swelling subsides. Now the patient can see the actual “canvas” he or she has been working on. In many cases, the person will look as if they lost a little weight (not a big problem). However, if actual damage took place … well, now it all makes its dreaded appearance!

Can I clear-off an entire beard? Sure, yes, of course. But I won’t do it, and this is only one of the reasons why I won’t! Funnily enough, most patients are unaware of the micro-changes that take place; but I’m not. I know that damage will not show-up for a year after treatments!

I have yet to meet a patient that is more neurotic about their skin (or sterilization procedures) than I am.

That’s the first thing I noticed, too. I just hope you realize that our faces change with time - unless you want to be Joan Rivers - and a smile makes most people look their best.

I think you have a beautiful smile regardless of what you think electrolysis may or may not have done to your face.

Thanks for your answer.

It means that after the swelling leaves, the wrinkle might disappear?

What happens to the wrinkle is exactly the opposite of what everyone is saying. If I smile hard, It disappear, or almost disappear. If I smile normal or a little, the wrinkle is there. It’s like smiling hard pushes filling it.

If I’m a lot of time without smiling and then I smile hard, It wont disappear easily, but after 2 or 3 times smiling hard it dissapear. AND THEN, if I smile hard many times, then I smile hard and it becomes hard to see.

Weird.

So for those who are saying I’m also flexing my mouth a lot more, you coudlnt be more wrong, because thats exactly what makes the wrinkle “disappear” (not 100% but kind of)
