Perhaps the swelling from the treatment has given you a temporary volume change in the skin; it takes very little to make such changes. Remember, swelling, although you aren’t aware of it, lasts a very long time (technically a year).
Furthermore, I have learned to never discount the experience of a patient … despite what I “think or know” is the physical reality. People know their own body (mostly).
One of the great mistakes of “full-beard-removal-people” is having a lot of on-going treatments (weekly or more). Well, not really a terrible mistake. But here’s what they experience.
During the treatment time, say a year or so, the face remains slightly swollen. During this time, the face often looks BETTER than the patient remembers because all the lines and wrinkles are “puffed out.” Indeed, even the zapper-damage that might have happened does not show up because of the swelling. And then, no more treatments.
It takes months post treatment, but eventually the swelling subsides. Now the patient can see the actual “canvas” he or she has been working on. In many cases, the person will look as if they lost a little weight (not a big problem). However, if actual damage took place … well, now it all makes its dreaded appearance!
Can I clear-off an entire beard? Sure, yes, of course. But I won’t do it, and this is only one of the reasons why I won’t! Funnily enough, most patients are unaware of the micro-changes that take place; but I’m not. I know that damage will not show-up for a year after treatments!
I have yet to meet a patient that is more neurotic about their skin (or sterilization procedures) than I am.
