I have had several electrolysis sessions to clear my upper lip with the blend method. Most hair is gone but about two months ago I started seeing an area on the right side of my upper lip where the skin looks darker and has a gray/blueish color like a permanent shadow. However, it can’t be a beard shadow because no hair is growing now. Can you please help me understand what this is?
Looks like post inflammatory hyperpigmentation to me.
Which would mean itwill fade completely with enough time.
The hyperpigmentation is common “side effect” of the electrolysis process. This should be explained to you by your electrologist during the consultation.
Indeed. In addition - and independent from that - two months after a full clearance there are also new hairs starting to form under the skin. That can make a dark shadow as well, and the color is not a light brown as in hyperpigmentation but blueish/greyish. That was the case with my own facial hairs as long as they were many.
