I assume this has to do with attacking the hairs at a certain time of growth. You’ll have to excuse my lack of knowledge on this- but if this is possible to do- 3 treatments (once every every 3 months), why is this not the mode of most electrologists? why do people have to come in every 2-3 weeks if its possible to clear it in 3 clearances every 3 months? Again, I’m sorry for my ignorance and realize this may be a stupid question.
This is not something I ever say…
It has been my experience that if a client is consistent with following my recommendations it can still take around 18 months to complete their treatments. This is excluding someone who is perpetually growing NEW hair from previously dormant hair follicles. Some clients can have treatments a month apart - others need weekly treatments - there are many factors to be taken into account.
3 full clearances spaced every 3 months apart would be a formula for reducing a man’s beard, NOT full beard removal.
I think it depends on the treated area. A clearance every three months on the body is ok but I’d never be able to wait 3 months for a face clearance. I’d be tempted to pluck/wax.
This is our point. While one may very well be able to do some body work with one full clearance every 3 months, facial work would never work that way, other than maybe a situation where one just had some few hairs here and there, or hairs growing out of a mole.
Or when the beard of the man has not been shaving for a few months.
I would like to dig deeper into this subject, it is likely that the number of clearances needed to put an end to an area, is confusing to readers.
And this will end up affecting the expectations of consumers, as well as the work of my colleagues.
I’ve seen too many times throughout my career how a client who is previously informed of the ideal strategy to put an end to all the hairs in a given area…and a few months later, this same client complains that things are not going as I predicted.
Of course, this client only heard the “good” part of the information provided in the initial consultation.
The part “unpleasant”, ie the sacrifices he or she had to do, were obvious and condemned to oblivion. How is this called? ah yes, Selective Memory. We tend to remember only the good things, I guess this is some kind of self-defensive mechanism.
Well, that all the hair on any area to be removed permanently with Electrolysis, must be a number of conditions:
1 .- The area has not been waxed or shaved several months before starting treatment.
2 .- Intervals between 3 clearances are also several months.
3 .- The area has completed development of hair*.
*This will never happen in the face, neck and chest of the woman with a tendency to develop new hairs.
The beard of man, by contrast, is fully developed at age 30.
I understand it is hard to wait several months for all hairs are present at the time to start, if the problem is on your face, you do not want anyone to know your secret! and if the unwanted hairs are in the body and go to a gym or pool, you want to be perfect! In this case, you have to go to your electrologist as soon as some hairs appear, the Electrolysis will be equally effective, but we are talking about so many clearances as necessary for phasing all batches of hairs arise, at first, according to the hair thickness, appointments will be weekly, biweekly and finally monthly. Thus, during the 18 months it may take the appearance of the last hair grow slower.
Hi Jossie,
that makes sense. But I was told that even if these conditions are met, most electrologists will still need about 5 or 6 clearances for the body.
I’m not saying this is bad, just trying to understand why this happens. Do you use a special technique or does it have to do with the accuracy of the insertions?
No, there is really no special technique, except for the fact that I often dispenses with tweezers. Never, we should remove hair without being sure that the follicle that produces it, is being well treated. What is that to force some hairs accidentally? How do you expect the client to follow your instructions if yourself are pulling hairs with tweezers?
I think the key is to remove every hair that our eye can grasp, and to forget the issue of the phases. Treat each follicle separately even though they are so close together that it would seem that treating only one you’ve killed the adjacent hair.
