electrolysis clarification

First, when you have electrolysis, when a hair is “Zapped” is it forever gone, for the most part. Or do you have to zap it several times to get it permenentaly removed? Also, there is a place near where I live where it is student estheticians that provide service for practice. They offer electrolysis at 50cents/minute (I find it’s a good deal), do you think it would be O.K to go there for electrolysis? this is a link to their site: http://www.gisellesschool.ca/

thank you for your posts!

The only time electrolysis will provide permanent hair removal is when treatment is administered while the hair is in the growing stage. If you want to optimize the results of treatment, have the tech. clear an area and then, return the following week and have the same area treated. As hairs emerge in the treated area, you will be catching more and more of these hairs in the critical growing stage. Do not wait more than 6 weeks between treatments. In this way, each hair will only require one treatment. Those hairs that were not treated in anagen will require more treatments. Make sure that the majority of hairs are sliding out, without resistance and drink plenty of water.

Some hair structures require that the hair be broken down as they are very sturdy or they grow in all kinds of shapes such as “J’s”,“U’s” and “S’s”. So if the hair is not a nice straight anagen hair, we may not be able to get it the first time, but it will start the cycle of life all over again as a straight hair and most likely it will meet it’s doom.

Students are fine, but for what area are you wanting worked on?

Dee

Student treatments are fine as long as you get a good student who doesn’t pluck. The hair should slide out without resistance.

Sorry but I do not agree with Arlene. The effectiveness of the electrolysis does not depend on the phase in hair is. It depends on the professional training of the electrologist. Of proper insertion. From applying enough current to remove the area of the hair follicle can produce.
A good electrologist knows when the needle is not outside the follicle.
The person who is to undergo electrolysis, wants to see early results of treatment. I do not know a faster way to check the results that emerge leaving as much hair to the surface. When this happens most of the hairs have reached a late phase of anagen and indeed many have reached the telogen phase. If most are eliminated in the first session, why not work in telogen?

I work mainly large areas of the body, easily concealed with clothing. I have read many that Dee talks about 18 months to complete his hair in a given area. I assure you that you can get in 9 months. All that is needed is to let the hair appear a few months before starting the electrolysis treatment.

Just a clarification. I give a general range of time to completion of 9-18 months. Most of my clients are 90% “finished” by month 9-12, depending on the area(s) being treated and client compliance. Thank me very much!

Dee

Of course, effectiveness depends on the phase the hair is in. If the client doesn’t come in often enough, you are always getting a lower kill rate, so the treatment will stretch out longer.

Dee, I have no doubt that what you say is true. I remember that you really enjoy working on arms that have never been without hair. In these cases the degree of effectiveness is amazing from the first clearance (80%) just the same percentage of hairs in telogen. Is likely that these cases runs long before 9 months.

Lagirl, I think you confuse the protocols to be applied to the laser with electrolysis. To succeed with electrolysis, [color:#FF0000]it does not matter what stage the hair is.[/color]

That is true depila, but pushing past the bottom of the follicle brings more discomfort to the client.

Well, since this thread is to clarify concepts. TeamJacob may not bother much if I use it.

Dear Dee, when we work in telogen are not going through the bottom of the follicle. I admit that is more annoying for the client but for different reasons than you mention. Because the area to destroy in telogen is just at the most innervated follicle, ie, the bulge area.

Also, tell me, what would it be correct to anagen phase work? Dectro experts say, is the ideal stage early anagen phase, when the bottom line with follicle bulge area. The problem is that at that time or no hair (exogen phase) and the hair still has not detached (telogen phase).

I finally got the book Bono ¡Aleluya!. Mr. Bono suggests that one of the biggest difficulties that the electrologist is that the client is confused false regrowth with true regrowth.
Therefore it is of vital importance that clients recognize early signs that tell him which is on the right track.

What I have read so far the book by Mr. Bono I have been impressed because I discovered that he bases his conclusions on his own experience to ignore the assumptions broken by people who mostly have never inserted a needle and a title by hanging in the wall of his beautiful office think they are in possession of absolute truth.

Okay. Thanks.
