Electrolysis and Depilatories

Hey all

Hopefully this is just a straight forward yes or no. And sorry if it has been mentioned and discussed before.

Does the use of a depilatory cream effect in anyway my course of electrolysis (shoulders incidently)? Put it back or hinder it in anyway?

Thanks

The electrologist needs to see a little bit of the hair in order to treat it. Depilatories dissolve the hair with harsh chemicals a little below the skin line. In a sort time the hair will grow abve the skin if it is in anagen phase. If you are getting electrolysis, why not clip or shave between treatments? Do these chemicals irritate your skin?

Basically, any method that PULLS the hair out of the follicle is not allowed. Depilatories dissolve the hair, so technically it is okay to do this, but I would advise shaving or clipping in betwen treatments.

Hey Dee thanks for the reply.

I will stick to shaving then when I feel the need.

Incidently is it when the hair is just above the skin, being in the anagen phase, it is the best time for it to be…er…electrolised?

You shouldn’t need to do much in between if you’re doing electrolysis in the most efficient way, i.e. you are getting a clearance and then come in as SOON as you seen new hair pop up so you can kill them while they’re weak. Incidentally, this answers your last question.
