electrolysis and acne

Hi, I have had clear skin for most of my life with the occasional spot here and there. people have always commented on how lucky I have been in that sense. However, recently I have started to break out. But not like normal spots. They never come to a head and don’t seem to have any pus either. I have never touhed them or tried to pop any of them. The spot I have been getting are red and bumpy but they don’t hurt. I dont know if its cystic but hopefully not. its only occuring on my cheeks. I seem to wake up with red spots that make the area around them inflamed. I have used tea tree oil mixed with aloe vera to no avail. I have also tried using ice. Some occur a day later after electrolysis and some after a week. However, this never happned in my early tratmnets or during the consultation. after a couple of days the spot seems to go down so no bump but red mark in the area. I have never had anything like this. Nothing seems to be helping. Its like my skin is angry with me. I will insert pictures to make it more clear.
This is my right cheek: http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah23/iwantmylifeback/3769624C-758E-4059-9373-0A1DBBB5D5AD_zpsrh9wlu3b.jpeg

those marks are from former spots. will they fade by themselves or will electrolysis make it worse? Also what can i use? Will rosehip oil help? the pictures are not as clear as i wanted but its much worse in real life.

this is a pic of my left cheek a day or two after my elctro: http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah23/iwantmylifeback/5A7F44BF-3447-4EF6-80FE-9985B71881E6_zpszhicxish.jpeg
the two spots i have marked were not there before but they are not ur typical spots that happen after elctro. Like i said before they come as red bumps and seem to stay :(. which makes me think it is not the electrolysis.

this is how it looks today: http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah23/iwantmylifeback/DA909B78-E3DE-47E7-AABF-8F98E33655F2_zpsra1hrjxy.jpeg

The same left cheek yesterday: http://i1376.photobucket.com/albums/ah23/iwantmylifeback/05E4986A-4089-4ED9-BC4E-7E06A026E142_zpsjlflah4z.jpeg

As you can see i woke up with another one of these red monsters on my face. I am trying to figure out why and what it is. Has anyone here experinced soemthing similar? Are they papulaues or more like cysts? what shall i do about them. I have a cream called duac from my GP but i dont know if it would be safe to use them. it has been a week since my cheeks have been treated. However, i also treat my chin and neck but they don’t have this problem. Have you ever treated people with acne like mine? is it anything to be concerned about? Sorry for the long post and all the questions. Any input would be appreciated. thank you

I’ve had them too, not permanent although new ones will probably appear as long as you do electro. Creams had no positive effects on them and they stopped coming when I stopped treatments on the area!

It’s nice to know I’m not alone, but they’re not like normal pustule spots just big inflamed red spots that leave marks. Is this a common side effect of electrolysis? Even if the spots occur a week later? I just want to determine the cause of them. Did you do anything to help yours? has any Electrologist here seen anything similar?

I wish I had answers for you regarding the treatment for them, however the cosmetic dermatology field is sadly full of hearsay opinions instead of clear scientific facts.

purple potato, I am afraid I dont remember your treatment history, or whether you had a hormonal condition A hormonal condition such as PCOS or thyroid imbalance can cause an increase in acne. It’s possible the"acne" is newly stimilated hair follicles, as this is common with excess androgens in the blood stream. It could also be ingrown hairs if you are treating the area. There is also a significant possibility it is a kind of contact dematitus. This I think is the more likely scenario and if so a likely culprit, would be something on your pillow as you sleep.

The simplest thing for you to do, is replace the pillow and pillowcase, and wash them in a all natural laundry detergent. If it is a contact allergy from this cause, it will aleviate immediately. If it’s not, and is in fact due to hormonal balance, then a medical doctor or dermatologist is your best route.

Thank you for replying. I don’t have any hormonal imbalances. I just had a blood test recently and everything came back ok. It could be my illow case. maybe its my after care? I don’t touch. only splash waster on my face. I use aloe vera from holland and barret and witch hazel from boots. After a day I start using:http://www.boots.com/simple-kind-to-skin-foaming-cleanser-vital-vitamin-150ml--10193405
I also use this for moisturising: http://www.boots.com/simple-kind-to-skin-hydrating-light-moisturiser-125ml-10023879
And i also use tea tree oil for the spots mied with aloe mainly. Is there any product here that i should not be using while treatment? Have you ever seen anything like my reaction? It would really help if more electrologists could comment. I am also thinking of seeing a dermatologist. Is there anything else you would recommend? thank you.

I would try using plain water for a while, and nothing else. Not even Aloe. You dont need all that stuff on the skin.Aloe I’ve known to cause some to react, and teatree too in some cases. Plain water, is all you need.
