Hi helpful,
Firstly, when did you have your final laser session?
And to confirm, you are currently not taking accutane and have started electrolysis?
I fully sympathise with your situation, so I hope you will benefit from my advice and experience. When I was your age, I had a face full of acne and hair. Being a teenage girl and having a beard and sideburns like a teenage boy’s (before the hairs thicken up) is no fun. My hair was dense and black and covered my whole beard area and neck. Two things that I’m very glad I did were (1) not fiddle with the hairs; so no waxing or threading like my cousins were doing (2) being patient!
I had researched LHR pretty thoroughly and if I was less patient, I would have gone ahead. I’m glad I didn’t because it was not suitable for my hair. I’ve had electrolysis now and am finally not plagued with hair issues.
Ok, so firstly patience. If you had your last Laser less then 6 months ago, I would wait before starting electrolysis. At least 6 months from that time, or better still, one year. The reason being that as you are thinking, hair will continue to come through. In the long run it will be better for you and your electrologist to have a better idea of the hair situation being dealt with.
Secondly, in this time, I would ‘test’ the electrologist. Unless you have had a personal recommendation or this person has positive feedback from anywhere, it is a gamble. Take an untouched, stable area of your body (so no waxing or shaving and not something like your shoulders) and get the electrologist to completely (I mean 100%) clear a small area (say 1 or 2" sq). 3 months after clearance, you will get an idea of how effective your electrologist’s work is (there’s no reason the density shouldn’t be reduced by at least 50% compared to the surrounding area). Ok, face is different, but if the electrologist can’t even manage good results on the body… it doesn’t inspire confidence. I don’t think everyone will like my suggestion by from the client’s perspective, it’s the only way to know your not peeing your money and time away.
If you are seeing someone skilled in facial work, I don’t think you should expect scabs that are TOO noticeable and certainly bruising should be rare. If anything, good electrolysis work will help clear up your skin.
