Electrolysis after laser hair removal

Hello i have been going through a rough patch tryna figure out whats best for my facial hair and worrying about about regrowth of hair from laser hair removal.

I have just started electrolysis and i was wondering will it be effective for me.As some of the hairs are growing back from laser hair removal.I am really depressed about the whole situation as i am dealing with acne at the same time.

I just want some help from an experienced electrician.

Im am only 19 and my quality of life is horrible at the moment.
Please help me.

I don’t think electrologists are electricians
Facial hair responds well to electrolysis. Depending on where you live I’m sure someone on this forum will be able to give you some recommendations about practitioners. Goodluck.

Yes, of course, electrolysis is highly effective and is great for facial hair. I don’t like laser reduction for female facial hair and rarely recommend it for my clients. Whatever is on a woman’s face, I can handle with little fanfare. The hair is treated and lifted out - no need to wait and hope for shedding in 1-3 weeks. Visually, one looks better immediately, but best of all, electrolysis WORKS. A successful outcome can be predicted. Find a competent, experienced professional electrologist and you will reach your desired goal. Develop a good relationship with her or him because as you age, you may develop new bothersome hairs that will need to be eliminated. Stay on top of things and treat new hair as it surfaces over your lifetime and you will have no worries.

Iv had laser hair removal and iv heard some hairs come back later and im worried soon as i finish the supposed ‘year and a half’ of electrolsys i will have loads of hairs.

I am so depressed because i thought coming off accutane will solve my problems. As i broke out badly during laser. Now im worried i will break out with electrolsys and i have a bit.

I am a male by the way buy i am really sensetive too a point were skin takes over my life… sorry for my life story but thats hows its been for me.

Side note im based in uk.

sorry emily my minds not all there i meant electrolsyst

There is definitely still an age factor in your case :frowning: But electrolysis can destroy the hairs which already exist at least. When I say age factor, I mean that people will find that they are still developing new hairs. But keeping on top of the hair already there and new growth is a great way to start.
Accutane and LASER definitely does not go together, accutane makes your skin very sensitive.
When I had electrolysis I did have a bit of breakouts which is annoying and I’m sure your case is worse, what worked for me was keeping a tub of witch hazel pads in my car which I’d wipe the area treated with afterwards, as well as having lots of ice to apply to the area. If you’re not on Accutane anymore look into good, gentle facial cleansers like Cetaphil. For breakouts I like to use face wash which contain salicylic acid but it might be too strong for your skin.

Goodluck

iv been off accutane 7 months now. I still have oily skin and am breaking out abit and yes i am using a salicylic acid face wash. The breakouts is a big concern aswell as the scabbing and bruising that comes with electrolysis as i have work , college gym etc to juggle.

So i feel abit discouraged with doing electrolysis. Another worry is going back too my first question because i done laser hair removal i’m worried while i do electrolysis a load of hair will come back making electrolysis pointless.

Do you have anything too say about that problem emily and dfahey ?

Are you having your entire face treated?

Is your electrologist using an insulated probe? I have worked on clients who were on Accutane, but one has to be ever so delicate. If your skin is really fragile, flakey and red during this time, it may be best to delay electrolysis treatment for now and resume when your skin is calmer.

hey o’oconnel well ideally i would like too get the whole face done but i am scared once i treat the whole face as it is now hair will grow back from the laser treatments i have had.So at the moment i want too treat the thicker hairs for the time being.

Im not sure what she is using dhfahey but my skin isnt really flakey.

And what about my questions about the laser ?

Thank you

Hi helpful,

Firstly, when did you have your final laser session?

And to confirm, you are currently not taking accutane and have started electrolysis?

I fully sympathise with your situation, so I hope you will benefit from my advice and experience. When I was your age, I had a face full of acne and hair. Being a teenage girl and having a beard and sideburns like a teenage boy’s (before the hairs thicken up) is no fun. My hair was dense and black and covered my whole beard area and neck. Two things that I’m very glad I did were (1) not fiddle with the hairs; so no waxing or threading like my cousins were doing (2) being patient!

I had researched LHR pretty thoroughly and if I was less patient, I would have gone ahead. I’m glad I didn’t because it was not suitable for my hair. I’ve had electrolysis now and am finally not plagued with hair issues.

Ok, so firstly patience. If you had your last Laser less then 6 months ago, I would wait before starting electrolysis. At least 6 months from that time, or better still, one year. The reason being that as you are thinking, hair will continue to come through. In the long run it will be better for you and your electrologist to have a better idea of the hair situation being dealt with.

Secondly, in this time, I would ‘test’ the electrologist. Unless you have had a personal recommendation or this person has positive feedback from anywhere, it is a gamble. Take an untouched, stable area of your body (so no waxing or shaving and not something like your shoulders) and get the electrologist to completely (I mean 100%) clear a small area (say 1 or 2" sq). 3 months after clearance, you will get an idea of how effective your electrologist’s work is (there’s no reason the density shouldn’t be reduced by at least 50% compared to the surrounding area). Ok, face is different, but if the electrologist can’t even manage good results on the body… it doesn’t inspire confidence. I don’t think everyone will like my suggestion by from the client’s perspective, it’s the only way to know your not peeing your money and time away.

If you are seeing someone skilled in facial work, I don’t think you should expect scabs that are TOO noticeable and certainly bruising should be rare. If anything, good electrolysis work will help clear up your skin.

i had my last laser session about a month ago.But i am very anxious because at the moment i am taking anti biotics and im thinking during this time having electrolsys might help me breakout less.I dont know ? and no im not using accutane been off it for more than 6 months.

Im based in leicester by the way.
