Electrolysis after FFS

I am going in for FFS in early October and I thought I remember hearing that you should not get electrolysis for a while afterwards (I have a call in to the doctor, but it is not urgent so it might be awhile for an answer). Does anyone know if this is necessary and if so, for how long?

Thank you

The main reason they say that is to avoid infection.

Most people DON’T really follow any of the aftercare instructions we give them, and therefore that would be ONE MORE thing that could go wrong.

Of course, if one were to have planned out their electrolysis and had full clearances, this would not have been an issue, as one would either be finished, or in between 3 month sessions.

well, I wish I were there, I am close to full clearance though.

Hi Nikki:

I would follow the FFS doctors advice.

I would think you don’t want someone applying pressure in certain areas, but it may depend on which area you had worked on.
If its the jaw area, you might want to be careful. If its the nose you don’t want pressure on that either at first.

They will probably ask you stop talking HRT and to avoid
any painkillers like aspirin for a while before surgery too.

If you are close to full clearance, then you really should go on and get that full first clearance accomplished prior to the FFS, as that would give you a good 6 to 12 week window where you would not lose that much from having no work done while you heal.

Time it just right, and you would only be shaving once a week or less during the later portion of that healing time.

We are trying to get the last bit (about 1/4 inch all along jawbone) that is VERY resistant to treatment. Hopefully we will.

They told me to stop meds one week before and wait 4-6 weeks after to start again (as long as I notify the electrologist to take it easy)…

I am getting so excited. 33 days to go.
