Electrolysıs Scarring

Dear all,
I have PCOS sp I had a lot of hair on my breasts the last few months. I went to my first electrolysis session at the end of April. Right after the session everything seemed fine and the redness was gone in a day and scabs were gone in a week or so, but a couple of weeks after I could see dark spots everywhere the hair was removed, also with three of them the surrounding area is also dark brown. The hairs close to the areola were thicker and I can see very big pores in where the thick hairs were removed. I am very conscious about myself and I dont know what to do. I have been to a couple of doctors but I dont think they were familiar with electrolysis. Could you tell me what I can do to heal them or what I can put or any specialist I could see? Please someone help me, ill they go on their own or what should I do? Thank you

Leave the marks alone, they will fade completely with time.
What you are experiencing is called Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation, and it ALWAYS resolves completely, though it can take anywhere from months to a year and a half to fade completely in some cases.

Nothing at all to worry about, it is just the healing process itself and you will be left with beutiful skin. Hyperpigmentation is NOT scarring and is simply a temporary manifestation of the healing process itself.

I swore to the goddesses I wasnt going to answer this inquiry anymore, and yet, here I am, suckered again! This is however, the only statement I will make on this issue, it’s very common and has been discussed here many times.

Hi thank you for your answer:) there is definitely hyperpigmentation but I am not sure everything im experiencing is hyperpigmentation. Would the enlargened pores swallow back to normal? Also is it possible to have hyperpigmentation not only on the hair follicle but in the surrounding area as well?

I would have to see pictures of the area to tell you much about the pores, in my experience I dont see enlarged pores as a result of electrolysis in my practise so it may not be much I could tell you but you stand a better chance of someone else responding if you post a picture of what you’re talking about. No one can tell you anything sight unseen.

As for hyperpicmentation , yes its very possible to have this occur in tissues surrounding the follicle. Also , those of olive complexion ( typically missle eastern, indian, pakistani descent) tend to be more susceptable to hyperpigmentation.

It is said that once the hair is not occupying space in the follicle anymore, a persons eye will focus on the follicle opening as an empty space now. It will heal and close, but mind you, some people have that orange peel appearance to their skin regardless of whether there was hair there or not. Orange peel skin is pretty prevalent and if you have this skin characteristic, then so be it.
