Electrology scool in Arizona?

I was wondering if anyone knows about electrology schools in Arizona, preferably in Phoenix? I tried searching, but all i found is online school, claiming that you recieve theoretical studies, and also a practice, which i dont see as possible, since its online school. Unless i do electrolysis on my hubby.

It is possible to learn theory via book or online course, but eventually, one needs hands on work with aomeone who knows what they are doing and can help you with the intangables.

Maybe i could go and finish online course, and then ask Kimberly, my ole` friend, to take me as an intern

Sounds like a killer of a plan to me.

LOL! That made me almost choke on my sandwich

I am sure that in addition to hands on work with you, KW-5* would also give you fashion advice as well.

Excuse me while i go throw up…

Never heard of a school in Arizona. Arizona is unlicensed and a shcool there would probably go out of business because people don’t have to attend. There’s a school in Long Beach CA that’s been there a long time, like 20 years or more and I remember seeing that it has online theory. Students attend their location for the practical training. Less time away from home and it reduces student housing costs. They’ve got a good reputation and teach people from around the world. Look up Long Beach CA electrology school on Google or Verizon online and you’ll probably find them.

Well, there you go, sanny. Thanks LA Raze for contributing that information and welcome to hairtell.

I’m hopeful that many hairtell posters that come here with hair problems will consider becoming electrologists. They would be the ones that care the most and would make excellent electrologists because they had to live through not only the depressing hair problem, but got the added jolt of trying to find someone who is skilled, compassionate, hygenic and who choose to use the best modern tools of the trade.

You can make a good living at this, but most rewarding of all is seeing a depressed, hopeless person awake into a more confident, liberated person after the hair is removed permanently. Observing ones personality change gradually, for the better, is a fantastic and rewarding thing to witness.

I would like to point out that in my experience, licensure seems to lead to the closure of schools, leaving either only one, or none in small and medium sized states. Larger states seem to have one or two schools located in polarized population centers, leaving the rural residents at hardship for attending their programs. It is hard to commute 3 to 4 hours drive on a daily basis and get the kids off the school bus, and make dinner.

I just cehcked out Long beach school. Its almost 8000 bucks which i dont have, and without knowing what would happen (if anything) when i finished it, i am really weary of getting myself into 15 year loan on one income.
Not to mention practice period. Id need to go and live in CA and take my 11 year old girl with me, take her out of school, and be somewhere where i dont know anyone, with no money. Sounds like a dream.
I guess i`ll stop dreaming now.

Like I said:

Most would be electrologists can’t afford to move to another city for the duration of their training, and buy all their equipment, and live long enough to see the practice reach critical mass to where it is paying for itself, and affording a living income.

Neat how that keeps the practice low on practitioners, eh?

Hurdles were high for me, too, when I had to drive out of town to go to school, but not as high as they are for you, sanny. Too bad, because I think you would make a great electrologist.

Sanny;
Did you check out the online classes that they offer?
You can do the book work studies at home, and then attend for the actual lab work of performing electrolysis under the eye of a instructor electrologist. It is considerably cheaper than the classes for Californians.
You might take another look.

I actually saw that you can do portion of studies online. I also sent them an email asking about duration of practical classes in California. Since i live in Arizona, not so far from Cali. i wanted to get as much info as possible before i dismiss the idea.
I am more concerned with possibility of me working as an electrologist after i finish the school, then with actual financial things and cost of the equipment. I don`t think i ever noticed anyone looking for an electrologist in sunday newspaper. How do you lend that job after you finish school?

In most cases, no one will hire you as an electrologist. In many cases, those who would be willing to hire you just want to cheat you out of your labor.

You really have to look at this as something you will be doing for yourself, and going out on your own. Look to find how you can finance your equipment, and get started on the reading materials we advise all electrologists read, and then make your next move.

Sanny,
There are two major means of qualifying to take a certification exam in Electrology. One is by means of attending an electrology school, and the other is to spend one to two years internship under another electrologist.
Around Seattle, the later is the means that most electrologist qualified to take the exam. Some electrologist have been around for many years, and are now getting upwards in age. Some might be interested in passing along their skills to someone wishing to learn. You might wish to take a look at that avenue. But for those who wish to get started as soon as possible, then Schooling is by far the quickest route. For myself, I found that having spent time in class to become a medical assistant was extremely valuable in the skills that I would need as an electrologist. Many schools have classes in Medical Assisting. Because my job had been outsourced, the Government even picked up the cost of my schooling for me. Here, it takes about a year till graduation as a medical assistant though. But I am extremely glad that I did take the time to complete this program before continuing with Electrology training.
I have heard from others, that many electrologist will view you as competition if you tell them that you are interested in becoming an electrologist however, and will shun those interested in learning.
