Hi, I’m a new member and I’m so glad I found this website! I’ve been reading some of the previous posts and all the info has been very helpful. I was unsure about electrolysis vs. laser and I think after reading a lot of the posts on this website, I’ve decided to go with electrolysis. Any recommendations for a good electrologist in the Northern VA or DC area? Also, does electroloysis cause scarring? I scar very easily (deep chicken pox scars, and some pimple scars) is this something I need to be concerned about? Thanks you in advance for your help.
Although I can not at this time offer you a referral in that area (the only person I know to refer you to is currently not taking new clients, even when I plead their case) I can offer that your consultation and sample treatment are key here.
If you really have sensitive skin, don’t even take a sample treatment unless the person at least has an epilator machine made by Apilus, Fischer, or Silhouet-Tone.
Have your sample treatment done on an area that is in shadow, like under the chin, so that you are seeing them work on one of the hardest areas to clear, but you are not going to be walking around with a scar that everyone will see if something bad happens.
You should also make sure that if you are not now, that you at least start drinking half a gallon of water every day. I don’t care how you break it up! 4 ounces every hour till you are done or four 16 ounce glases every 4 hours, just do it. You need pure water for life, and if your skin is dehydrated, it will make your electrology treatments more dangerous as it will make your hydration level uneven. If one part of your face is more moist than another, and the treatment energy has been set for properly treating the dry section, you will have a steam vapor blowout when the probe hits that moist follicle. Worse yet, dehydrated skin can have this condition fluctuate from follicle to follicle.
So please everyone, drink your water!
(A pot of coffe a day does not count towards this water consumption figure! In fact it works against it.)
Did you ever find an electrologist in this area? i live in northern virginia right near dulles airport and i go to two electrologists in bethesda, md. it’s pretty close to va and d.c. (about 20 miles from me) and i like both of them so if you are still looking let me know. one of them seems really busy bcs i can only get in to see her once a week for an hour but the other one seems to have more appointments, i think she works longer hours.
I am in the market for a new electrologist in the the Bethesda area. Can you send me the name of yours?
