I have done a search on anagen to really read up on it and I was wondering if treating the hair 3-4 weeks after it comes above the skin is still getting in on good killing time or if it is necessary to get them within the first 2 weeks.
This next week it will be 2 weeks that many of my darkest hairs have been visible (and some are growing really fast) but I was going to wait til the week after next since it will be 3 weeks after laser on a small part of the same area I want treated. I don’t want to risk passing up the good-killing window, so should I start treatment at week 2 and just have her not treat the lasered area (which is in an area where I want full clearance on the chin) or is it ok to wait til the 3rd week to start?
The reason one gets to first clearance as soon as possible is so that the hairs don’t have time to go into shedding phase before one treats them. To that point, the beginning one can do as many hours as close to gether as one can do until first clearance is accomplished. Then, after that, one can go on the schedule that maintains the clear treatment area best.
Assuming one can get fully clear in one sitting, one should only need to go once every 3 to 6 weeks, although some go more frequently so that there is no chance of any hair becomeing visible to the unassisted eye before being treated.
This will be my first electrolysis treatment. I just noticed the dark hairs are growing really fast and I know that it is best to treat them soon. My schedule/ride and previous laser situation make it best for me to wait til the 3 week mark that these hairs will have been above the surface but if they are more likely to be killed at the 2 week mark then I want to try and go this week.
The difference between 2 weeks out and 3 weeks out is no real difference assuming you have achieved First Clearance already, and have maintained that from the start.
The difference is that the older the hair the more developed it is. The electrologist may have to “turn up the juice” for the larger hairs (later anagen), but would not have to for the smaller hairs (early anagen). This could mean more of a skin reaction and/or longer treatment times. What does your electrologist have to say about it?
The electrologist I want to see has not gotten back to me yet (she’s out of town) and I haven’t gotten 1st clearance yet b/c this will be my very 1st treatment. I’m referring to 2 or 3 weeks of the dark hairs being above the skin, since even though I haven’t had any clearance, I’m assuming that they are in anagen when they 1st come out of the skin. Can they “turn up the juice” or give a longer treatment time using microflash?
Jes mentioned to get those hairs as soon as they come out with microflash…will 3 weeks be too long and so I should try for 2 just for this 1st treatment? (after I will go weekly) The reason is that Wed is the only day I could do it this week and I may not be able to get in with the woman i want so I would have to see someone else for the 1st treatment if I don’t wait 3 weeks.
I waited to get in with Rita and have my 1st appt Thursday…a little less overthinking (just a little!) and a little more pro-action!! I am nervous but excited to get the ball rolling.
