Dying the hair for improved visibility &efficiency

Hi all!

I am a 27 year old female and I started my electrolysis journey few months ago on my face, back, breasts, stomach & bikini (I travel out of town to see my practitioner). I am determined to get all these areas 100% hair free. However, my problem is that there are lots of fine blond and light brown hair on my face and body that are hard for my practitioner to notice and treat and they are really bothering me.

I am seriously thinking about dying my facial and body hair dark brown or black so that it is easier for my practitioner to see and treat. However, I am scared as I haven’t dyed my facial or body hair before and I don’t know any particular brand for dying female facial and body hair except the ones that are designed for men (mostly for men’s beards). I am afraid of using men’s products as they might be too harsh on my facial and body skin. Has anyone tried doing this?

Your suggestions/experiences/thoughts/advices are highly appreciated and welcome:)

I used mascara once to make my accelerated pigmented vellus hairs more visible.

And then I realized that visibility depended completely on the technician performing the job. (I go to EINE which is a student clinic.) So, with the magnifying lamp being a constant, some were able to see my hair (they adjusted the light to create shadows, wet it with witch hazel, had good eye sight etc.) and some others could not and would not.

So, in my experience, it depends very much on the practitioner.

I wouldn’t suggest dying your facial hair because it might cause the skin to darken, albeit temporarily, also wouldn’t suggest wetting the hair because water conducts electricity, just not a good idea when doing electrolysis.

Your practitioner will likely have several different magnifying options, magnifying lamp, loupes, microscope, that combined with side lighting the area and adjusting the face, will help to ensure the opening to the follicle is visible.
