I started laser hair removal on my face last Saturday, and I’m already showing regrowth, without having seen any of the previous facial hair fall out (or at least not to any noticeable extent).
I’m an optimal candidate, with dark hair and pale skin, but I have thick growth and it’s fairly coarse. Unfortunately, I don’t remember the setting that was used, but I do know that it was enough to be painful (I didn’t use the EMLA cream anaesthetic), moreso under my jaw than my upper lip. I am not yet on hormones (I’ve had particular difficulty finding a Doctor to give me the proper referrals – I’ll be seeing one on this coming Tuesday).
After the treatment on Saturday, I’m pretty certain that growth had stopped briefly, perhaps the hair being “shocked” into dormancy? But by Tuesday, I noticed the growth starting to come back. I wasn’t sure if this was just old hair emerging from the follicles (never done this before, so I wasn’t sure how that works), but there seems to be no falling out, not even patches.
The clinic that I went to has given me a good impression thus far and was also recommended. Their initial consultation gave me similar information to this site up-front, without having to be prompted for info. They’re now saying that for heavy growth / no anti-androgens / first treatment, this can happen and is best to follow up with a second treatment in 2-4 weeks.
I’d be inclined to believe this, but wanted to verify if this matches to others’ experiences here.
Thanks in advance; take care,
Chas
