Does laser work for me?

I have done 4 (I think) treatments on my thigs and lower back, the last one 4 months ago.
My skintype is number 2 and the laser was an alexandrite.
The color of the hair are in some light-conditions dark and in some other conditions blonde.
I have read that there will be a hairfree period (of a pair weeks) after the hair has fallen off (after two weeks), after the treatment. This hasnt happend to me. But after the last treatment I noticed there was a reduction (this was 2 months after), maybe half of the hair on the thighs were very short (a couple of millimeters) or not there. This had not happend before what ive seen. Now, 4 months after it is like before the treatments or maybe even more hair.

Could one tell trough this information if the treatments are waste of time and money?

And another question, can you tell through feeling if there is pain in the hair (not excactly the hair but you know what I mean) during the treatment that the hair absorbs enough heat?

Look at this chesthair (the hair is darker on real than on the photos) - I did LightSheer at 40J/cm2 and 9mm laser and didnt helped me at all. Allso LAgirl confirmed that the hair is not coarse enough that laser could be effective. So if you have such or lighter hair, you will have small or no results.

You could write how big the handpiece was, if 15 or 18mm and how the fluence was… Maybe pictures would be more helpful.

Laser can only destroy hairs that are coarse and dark.

From the sound of your hairs they are FAR too fine to be treated with Laser.

When it looks dark, it looks a little bit lighter than the hair on that picture.
I dont know anything about the settings.

I would say that the hairs are pretty coarse, but I guess they are too light then.

If you dont experience the hairfree period after treatment, is that a sign of ineffectiveness?

If you dont experience hairfree period, than something is wrong - I think the treatment energy was extremely low - if energy is high enough, allso the thin and not that black hair should shed as I did experienced.

Without hairfree period you 100% will not see any results, the only results you may see will be the stimulation of new hairgrowth.

Did the treatment hurt much? If good pover is applied, it should hurt as hell :stuck_out_tongue:

If the hairs are blonde in some lighting conditions, they are not suitable for Laser at all. The hairs needs to be black or dark brown and coarse like underarm, bikini or leg hair.

The hairs absorb the laser energy to produce heat in the follicle, which destroys the hair producing cells. If the hair is not coarse or dark enough, it cannot absorb enough energy.

Shedding is a sign of good treatment, although not always the case as finer hairs that will later return can sometimes shed too. However, no shedding is BAD.

If the hair is not coarse, dense and dark like hair on bikini and underarms, laser will not work. You also don’t mention settings, which are important.

Can you post a photo?

I hurt a little, but i think I could handle more. When the laser hit a small brown (pretty light brown) spot in the skin, it was an unstandable pain, if that can tell anything.

Okay heres the picture. The units are centimeters.

Im not very good in english, shed means “fall off”?

Looks not dark to me - the contrast between the skin and the hair is too low in my opinion.

Exactly like you said, shed means the hair falls off. It should happen approx. 1,5-3 weeks after treatment.

If the hair not sheds, the heat in the follicle was not high enough to make damage to the follicle and the hair will grow normally like nothing happened…

That hair is not dark or course enough for laser. You need electrolysis.

Okay, bad news. At least I could have been told this by the practitioner before i started the treatments. Well, thanks for your help.
