I had my first laser hair removal treatment and am fixing to have my second treatment next week which will be 4 weeks out. I am having my chin, lip and side burns done. (I am a female with PCOS). I have had several, several hairs fall out but still have numerous hairs and have to shave them everyday.
My question is does the hairs that fall out…will they come back or are those permanetly gone?
if you had an effective treatment, all treated hair should have falled out and it would have been too early to go in 4 weeks later because new hair wouldn’t have been there yet. what machine are they using? what is your skin and hair type? are you getting treatment for your PCOS?
please read the FAQs before going back in for treatment. you need to educate yourself first before potentially wasting a lot of money.
They are using the ELOS laser. My hair is dark brown and course. I have light to medium skin tone. I have hair but it is the ones they didn’t get last time…which is still a bunch!!
The only thing I am getting to PCOS is metformin and spironolactin to slow the hair growth down. My hair grows so fast that I sometimes have to shave twice a day to keep it from showing so bad.
The reason I am confused is that they said that I should see a significant reduction in hair but theoretically it will not get rid of all of them. Which I new…just wanted a mass reduction in what I have. But, what I am reading on this site is that you say something about new hair growth…is that hair growth in the places that the hair has already shed or hair growth on the ones they didn’t get?
you should read the part about hair growth cycles in the FAQs. whatever they missed should be treated at 4 weeks. so you are right. but it’s not considered a full treatment, just a touch-up, i.e. after this, you will have had one treatment and one touch-up on missed hairs. if the settings were high enough to disable the follicle, THAT hair won’t come back, however hairs that were dormant before WILL come in in a few weeks. In addition, hairs that weren’t disabled due to low setting etc will come in as well. Your treatments should be spaced 8-12 weeks apart.
p.s. at a point, the hair will get too fine for laser to target and you will need to finish with electrolysis. you do have to realize that you’re not using the best machine for these treatments, so your results probably won’t be as good and might take longer than if you were treated with a better machine.
