Do it yourself IPL

To date I have always believed that such devices were a no go and a scam but here in the Uk a respectable pharmacy/makeup chain Boots is selling something they are calling “Smooth Skin Intense Pulsed Light Hair Reduction System”

Its just come on the market at £250 which given the terrible exchange rate is approx $350! Have no idea how its going to do but can see that there will be lots of take up.

Thought I’d mention it - is there a similar device in the States and any history?

Website for this product. I am EXTREMELY skeptical that this would have significant results.

USA has TRIA beauty (triabeauty.com), a home laser system for $795

Thanks AMH
Well I’m reading various beauty talk boards in the uk and at these early stages women are encouraging each other to go out and buy it.
Will give it a few months to see how what results they start posting back.

Haha, everyone wants everyone ELSE to try the $300 device, right?

There have been detailed posts about the TRIA (first edition–second edition just came out) and that is a much more powerful machine with laser technology…but even that has a lot of limitations.

Thereish,

Don’t fall into the silly hole of group thinking. When you start to see these devices up for sale on the internet and such, that is a clue about effectiveness.

Boots is a business whose sole purpose is to MAKE MONEY. They have a good corporate “image” but that does not mean they will turn down a chance to make a buck or 2 or 3 or 4 or etc.

every business is opened to make money. that’s the definition of ‘business’. but thanks for your input on a month-old thread.
