Do any of you know any electrologists in Belgium?+

I have searched this board and other boards… it seems to be a bit difficult to find someone to go to  I found 1 member, Dominiques, who seemed to have found something… so I have PM’d him. I’ve researched quite a bit but it seems like laser is what Belgians are using for hair removal- which I don’t think will work for me.

so I just figured I’d ask on here, in case anyone possibly had any information!

thank you.

Don’t know what is up with Belgium and electrolysis care, but would this be helpful to you?

I am not giving you a recommendation, but this was on the Dectro website www.dectro.com .

I have been reading that only dermatologists do electrolysis in Belgium… but I haven’t found a dermatologist that agrees!

Also- Belgium isn’t very into advertising their services online so I’ve been trying to ask as many people as possible…

I find it odd I can’t find anything- so many transsexuals come here for operations and treatment afterward… I thought this would mean there would be great demand for electrolysis.

Well, emily, that’s really too bad. I’m guessing that when dermatologists perform electrolysis, they are mainly removing hair from moles, treating skin tags, hemangioma’s or perhaps even treating ingrown eyelashes. I imagine that they are not into treating large amounts of hair for cosmetic reasons, thus the need for electrologists in Belgium. I feel especially sad for our dear transgender women who are citizens in Belgium, in need of serious hair removal.

I’m absolutely agree with Dee.
The only advantage that doctors do electrolysis is that they can administer local anesthesia. Although this is not essential, infiltration anesthesia allows a treatment pleasant and fast for transsexuals.

The social and physical transition is hard enough already without adding more suffering!

Hi Joana,

yes, indeed, electrolysis is the most painful portion of this way. Some of us, including me during the most intense phase of my treatment had the opportunity to let a dentist doing this on the upper and lower lip.

Quite interestingly, most of my transsexual clients prefer not to use anything, although i have EMLA at hand, and this during long sessions.

Back to topic:

AFAIK, there are a some electrologists in the north-west of Germany, notably in Cologne and Düsseldorf, even one with much experience in facial work owning an Apilus Platinum. This should be within a reasonable travelling distance at least for long sessions (3 hours and more…).

Just to be clear- I’m not a transsexual myself, I just said that you’d think that since there are a lot in Brussels that they’d have some electrologists locally…

I just have the upper lip and chin to do. I will look into doing a couple of sessions in Cologne & see where that goes! thank you.

Oh my, Nederland! I was in Holland 16 times 1980-1995, doing classes, lectures. I lived in Alkmaar, Den Haag, Deventer, A’dam — it’s like my second home. Looking for an electrologist in the Benelux? I would contact the ANBOS in Holland for a recommendation. My friend Jana v.d. Landen was just here visiting me and could also give you a great recommendation. She’s in Woerden — and if you can’t find her, send me an email and I’ll give you her phone number! (Most of my main contacts are gone in Den Nederlands: Blokker was killed in an auto 2 years ago, I lost contact with Van Lint (Velin) and I think Romano (CTI) has moved to Norway (he makes a great electrolysis unit). Let me know how you do.
