DIY ?? Magnification, etc.

I am considering getting a used professional blend machine for DIY and possibly trading work. I have read the useful advise here, such as reading a few textbooks, legs only for quite a while, practicing insertions with the power off, starting with galvanic, slowly progressing to blend with the HF set to low, etc. As a DIY’er I think I would be content to stay with blend, and never cross over to pure HF, nor ever do ANY face work.

Any specific advice on magnification would be greatly appreciated. In a previous post, I think Mantaray advised loupes with a minimum of 4.5X. Since loupes can vary with respect to working distance, which distances are recommended for DIY? What if someone’s vision is already being corrected with specs or contact lenses…especially if someone has both myopia and presbyopia? Any recommendations for brands of loupes?

Also, for DIY galvanic or blend, is it feasible just to secure the grounding rod (covered with moisturizing lotion) around one’s leg with a bandana or a cloth band that fastens with Velcro?

Still a long way off from actually attempting this, just trying to think through the details.

Thanks!

Any advice on this post?

Especially on loupes/magnification?

I’ve been quite busy of late, so didnt see this before now.

When I am working on my face, I will use a 10X magnifying mirror, which I have from the ceiling on another mirror. It works quite well.
For anything else , or when i am working on others I use a 6X optical circle lamp. The exact brand escapes me and I didnt buy it new, it was a kijiji find. I also knew what I was looking for. I’m pretty sure it was made in china. This allows me some pretty close up work and it has a shortish focal length. I have tried out some loops of an electrologist here in town, she paid a LOT of money for them (5000-6000 I think) and I think they were around 4.5 diopter. While they worked perfectly, the biggest difference I found was the focal length. I could see quite well, but only when I had them about 12-15 inches away from the working area.Any closer and they werent clear. This was perfect for how she worked but wouldnt work in my own work, because the ergonomics have the work area much closer to eye level. From what I understand this is commonly how the “attach to your glasses” loops work.
I have used a combination of using my prescription glasses while I work, or just depending on the loop. I do get slightly better magnification when I use the loop in combination with my glasses. This works somewhat better when using my mirror.

Because of the focal length issue, I dont recommend the clip on/ binnocular loops for doing self work unless it’s below the waist. You wouldnt be able to achieve the right focal length otherwise.

I usually stick my Annode into the hem of my panties when working on myself. Apilus has a “flat bar” annode that would work well for this for most of it’s machines, but the round bar one works well too.Presumably held by a bandana or elastic would work too.MAke sure you get your Annode good and wet.The wetter the better.

Thanks Seana. Re-directing a recent post from another thread.

For DIY, not planning any face work, so no need for mirror.
Agenda would be reachable/feasible areas of arms and legs.

So, a single pair of loupes might not suffice, due to variable distance between the treatment area and my eyes.

I am thinking that a magnifying lens attached to flexible arms on an anchored stand might work out nicely for most areas, but I am not sure which make/model/power to go with.

Thanks

that is easy. The highest agnification you can find. I use a 6 diopter circle lamp and it works jut fine but it also has a shortish focal length so I’m not sure it would work for this purpose.I’ve tried professional ( $5000!!!) loops here by one of the pro’s, and they gave a longer focal length.
