Discomfort: tattoo vs. electrolysis?

Just a kinda fun question for those who have had both electrolysis and also have had a tattoo. If you’ve had both, which one did you find more uncomfortable? I’ve considered getting a tattoo, but I’m scared of the pain, but if I can do electrolysis, maybe a tattoo wouldn’t be that much worse.

You simply cannot compare the two. They are nothing alike. A tattoo is 100x more painful and constant.

I am glad at least someone commented.
All of my clients who have had both agree that tattoo is much more painful than electrolysis. I have never understood people with ten tattoos, stretched ears, metal poking out of their eyelids, lips, naughty bits and a bone sticking out their nose telling me, “Oh, I could never do electrolysis, that’s too painful.”

I am like, FOR REAL?

100% ditto’s for what James said.

Sensation varies from electrolysis practitioner to electrolysis practitioner. There are so many variables that go into making treatments tolerable to very tolerable to full blown CIA . Then there is the client side of things. There are so many variables that must be factored into what the client did or did not do prior to their session. (Caffeine intake, hydration level, lack of sleep, anxiety)

My clients think electrolysis (that I offer) is tolerable compared to the tattoo’s they have endured.

I am going to comment on this because I’ve had both electrolysis and a tattoo.

First, the sensations are totally different. Some people obviously have different experiences than me, but when I got my tattoo it felt sort of like the way an electric razor feels on your skin. In other words, not all that bad but with a bit of pinching and/or pointy feelings mixed in. Electrolysis isn’t all that bad either but it is mainly a series of small sharp pointed pains as opposed to the feel of an electric razor.

I’d say they are about the same overall. I do have a high tolerance for pain so maybe that’s another factor for me.
