Diode Laser??

So I’m an 18 year old very pale and very gay Arab guy with type 2-3 skin and dark hair. I’m seeing this dermatologist and he’s using what he calls a ‘Diode’ laser.

Is this laser effective for my skin type ? What should the settings be in order for it to perform well? I’m getting LHR done on my entire beard, neck, chest, stomach, armpits, hands (not arms) and legs (only a bit above the knees, apparently, because it’s a woman performing the laser and we’re a Muslim country LOL).

Also, how well will a laser generally work on the entire face area ? Will it work well ? I’m a good candidate I guess. And how bad is the irritation usually ? bad enough to skin school ?

I struggle to answer laser questions, but I think I’m right on these points. If I am not, I don’t get defensive if someone corrects me.

A diode is fine for your skin type. Compression must be used with a diode laser for it to be more effective and of course, overlapping should occur to avoid missing strips of hair.

We have heard many complaints over the years about men getting that marble cake looking side effect after lasing their beards. If this happens, more treatments are necessary or you can follow up with electrolysis.

Good luck to you and I hope you receive the support you desire.

Compression, overlapping, lots of face treatments. Got it. Thanks (:

You are very welcome.

Did your dermatologist categorise you as type 2-3? Generally speaking, if you are of Middle-Eastern descent, even if pale skinned, you will be at least type 3.

It would be wise to find out the type of Diode laser being used and do some more research on it. Not all Diodes are equal. Preferable still would be for you to find a clinic that uses an Alexandrite Laser (if you really are type 3 or below) and a machine that is recommended.

You should also do more research before jumping in for facial treatments. Search this forums for posts from users who’ve had it done. Personally I would not advise it because even with the perfect laser and perfect treatment in terms of settings and overlapping, no one can predict how an individuals follicles will react to Laser. You may still end up with patchiness. Further laser does little to rectify this. Your only solution would then be electrolysis to tidy it up and given this, I would advise you to consider electrolysis from the start. Either way, finding a good electrologist will be a challenge. It would be in your best interests to look into that now. You can get a nice and even reduction with electrolysis if that’s what you want. Some areas, like the lower neck you may want cleared completely and electrolysis can achieve this in a natural looking way.
