device to buy

Hello, I’m trying to buy a home electrolysis device, I saw on eBay some like Electrolysis System Ladies Womans Razor Epilator ($99), VECTOR hair removal electrolysis ($200), one touch home electrolysis ($13). I’d appreciate very much if anyone can tell me how effective they are, which I should buy. I see that VECTOR advertises rather persuasively, but don’t know how it really works, I really want to buy it, but I’m just afraid it wont work as advertised and I have to throw $200.00. Please help me. There’s no electrologist in my area to go to. Thank you.

Use the search feature for answers about those products, especially the Vector scam to avoid.

while you are at it, put your location in your profile. We have people here who could help you if they just knew you where you are.

Thanks. I did use the search engine to find info about that but what I could find was just websites advertising their products … they just try to tell good things about their products, so all products are good. I want to find an reliable information, I want to hear information from someone aldready used the device. So I’d appreciate very much if someone can tell me their experience in using the home electrolysis, or vector, etc. Thanks.

use the search engine for the forum, not a search engine like google. see where it says “search” in the upper right hand corner? click that.

I’ve used the home machines like the one touch. It didn’t work. I bought a Aavex from the same people selling the Vector and my machine never showed up. Buy a true proffesional machine. I’ve bought every gimick on the market and they just don’t work. Save your money and your skin.

I agree the tweezers with the vector are pretty lame but it does work if you use it as a traditional machine - get a traditional sterex handset unswitched if you have the foot pedal or switched if you do not - the plug is easily adapted - or just buy a spare tweezer lead and adapt it to the handset - a handset and thats is cheap as chips - although some say it works on fine down hairs but you have to use the gel - some say the charge dissipates into the skin before it gets to the follicle - i dunno Fischer did a test on a hair but even they said it conducts with the gel - who care - just buy a handset :stuck_out_tongue:

I use the Apilus SM-500 but got hold of a vector for an experiment - just get a regular handset - then its a half decent tool especially as its mains powered - no long term battery costs then :stuck_out_tongue:

As vector is retailed and sold all over and on many independent sites then it does ‘turn up’ its not quite as bad as the global-electrolysis-supply crowd i mean they are THE pitz of the net =)

The problem with home use devices is they are not designed to last even if they can be used properly with modification. The Vector/Global stuff is unreliable both in settings, and in connections. They really expect you to try it once, and send it to the junk drawer, or the garage, where it will await the garage sale ten years from now.

If you want something that works, and will last longer than a week, get a real professional machine. Get some real electrolysis text books, and if you really want to do yourself good, get a buddy and some hands on training from someone who knows.

I have an Apilus SM-500 and have studied the subject

i just wanted to point out that the vectors only downside was the tweezer argument - this is nullified when this unit is used with a sterex probe - i have tested it - and as a new item is no more or less reliable then any other technology really. When used in this way It certainly better and more versatile than the one touch - it doesn’t need batteries for a start so is always running at the same power - and a pro handset can take different needles.

Just a suggestion for those who want to step up from the one touch but can’t afford to buy a pro level machine. The global Electrolysis people do not in my knowledge have retailers they flog cr*p online but vector do at least have retailers who will take back machines and sell spares. I think in all fairness the tweezer argument is clouding the issue of a potentially cheap unit.

Plus if you live in the UK like me the dollar is half the value of the UK pound so all US kit is half price - buy a US-UK Transformer though :stuck_out_tongue: else it will blow up hehehe

PS I love your US site - excellent boards

There’s also the issue of supporting a company that uses deceptive sales practices to scam people with the “painless and permanent” claims they make about the tweezer apparatus.

I have done a search on the vector and they do actually mention using a needle but they suggest needing a licence or something

search for this in inverted commas
“Professionals can use the Vector System with a traditional electrolysis needle in place of the galvanic tweezers. Operating the Vector System with a needle requires a license.”
press any cached google links to find the info

this is what first led me to trying this out

I do not know US law - but I get the feeling that they may have liked to have sold this with a needle but perhaps that would make it a ‘medical item’ or something - again i don’t know how your system works :\

We don’t typically recommend DIY’ers going straight to an Apilus or similar full pro machine. That’s a lot of money to gamble.

You can buy a Uniprobe slow thermolysis machine new online for $299. Used blend machines go for similar sums - typically <$500.

If I recall correctly, the Vector sells for somewhere around $200. You’ll have to get a probe holder ($50 or so).

So, for similar money, you can get a slow thermo or blend machine. Epilation times will be a quarter or less than those of the Vector. You can then practice epilation until you develop the skills necessary, and then graduate to a flash capable machine such as your Apilus.

Wise word indeed especially about Uniprobe - nice gear good store

its just there are a lot of vectors out there gathering dust that could be put back into useful service for as little as £10 or $20 US

That’s a different story. Getting a used Vector and putting a real probe holder on it is a fine idea for getting started.

However, there are zero listings for low cost used Vectors on Ebay. I think people try it with the patches and tweezers, give up, and don’t want to admit to themselves that they got screwed.

How to use the vector successfully

So you bought the vector - you tried it and said - bloody con - it doesn’t work - or the gel and the amount of hair to be removed just means after the initial excitement you feel low and just wanna cry - we have all been there

Well a lot of people talk the talk and use third party conversations to argue the rights an wrongs of equipment - but i at least am showing that it can be easily adapted to a more reliable and easier to use item

Just so you know i am genuine i have photographed it next to my apilus - well i could be telling stories otherwise

the fit is a standard banana plug - this is easily available on sterex handsets - if you get a switched handset shown it means you don’t need the foot pedal - many vectors are not sold with the foot pedals - so this is a great way to get a switched vector relatively cheaply - if you have the pedal then you can save on the sterex handset.

you can buy banana fit handsets everywhere - but you may already have something or see a handset cheap on ebay - well you can simply buy the plug from radio shack or maplin (uk) banana plug - cut the off the one on the handset cable and re wire the end - 2 second job

as you can see from the images it does fit as it comes and turns a pain into a practical permanent device - try it

not more tears x

Just to summarize,

do the tweezers work with the gel,or not at all?! I realize its less optimal than aneedle, but doesit work?.Its just that ihate painful treatmnts. The reason i wanted the vector was because of the tweezers and gel,no painful needle required

If no probe is inserted to the bottom of the follicle it doesn’t work.

You are asking for the termination of a growing part of the body without pain. There must be something that you feel during the destruction of tissue. The difference is how much you feel and for how long.

I think you are really imagining way more sensation than is appropriate based on what is possible in professional treatment.

Just keep in mind, your hydration level, caffeine consumption, B-vitamin levels, and other things have more to do with what you will feel than the practitioner’s skill at treatment. Any decent professional with the correct equipment can make a tolerable treatment, but not even the best can provide a pain free treatment to a person who eats a poor diet, has a pot of coffee in them, and did not sleep last night because they drank the night away in a bar (booze dehydrates and destroys b-vitamins, a two for one deal!).
