Developing Facial Hair Issue - Dublin Ireland

Dear all,

This is my 1st post on this forum so I’ll begin by saying thank you to those who started and those who run this place as well as to those who contribute to it. So… thank you!

Anyway… I have just started contemplating Laser Hair Removal and I stumbled upon this very useful website and forum.

Would anyone be able to recommend a good Clinic in Dublin/Ireland?

Also, another q:

I have skin type 2 or 3 (not entirely sure) and I was wondering if getting rid of light facial hairs (chin and a small are on the neck) would work for me? I have been on the pill for a good while and messed up taking them (a few times) and my hormones went a bit nuts and I have now noticed the scary development of some facial hair.

I’ve been using the tweezers so, some of the hair is no longer blonde but dark and thick (but only a little bit, a few hairs, here and there…).

What are my options? I don’t want to shave just so the hair grows thicker and darker and becomes “laser friendly”.

This is getting to me to be honest…

Thank you in advance!

Hi Andi:

Laser does not work on light colored hair. If you are plucking then there won’t be any root for the laser to target, so shaving is recommended.

I did some laser sessions, and now am finishing with electrolysis. My electrolygist did both modes.

I have been to Dublin once on a tour around Ireland.
I enjoyed the trip and think of Ireland as a lovely country with very friendly people.

Thanks Alicia!

I was doing some more research on this issue and I got to the same conclusion… I am going to see what my options are as regards to hair removal clinics around Dublin as I really want to tackle this problem before it gets out of hand (things are not that bad right now but its not hard to figure that they are going to get worst).

Again, many thanks!

P.S.: I’m happy you have enjoyed Ireland!

Oh, one more thing: does applying make-up on treated skin has any (bad)effects?

Hi andiwade and welcome to hairtell.

People who choose laser for light facial hair become laser failures.

For the few dark hairs you describe, electrolysis will easily rid you of the problem for good. And by the way, shaving does not cause hair to become thick and dark, but is actually a very good choice for a temporary method. I would look for an electrologist. It will actually get you desired results for those light hairs.

Speaking of Dublin, two of my daughters will be landing there in about 10 hours! This will be their first trip to Ireland and they are ready to soak in all they can of your beautiful country. The only thing I asked them to bring me back is a penny whistle. I’m really into gospel music, of all kinds, and one of my CD’s relates to Irish gospel songs and I fell in love with the penny whistle stuff. I hope they don’t imbibe in too much Guinness and forget my penny whistle,or I will be really ticked.

Good luck with solving your hair problem and I think I would evaluate if you are on the type of birth control pill that causes facial hair growth.

Makeup should be avoided for at least 24 hours. If you use it, you could develop little pustules if hands and makeup are not clean. You don’t want to clog up a fresh wound with makeup.

Thank you Dee!

I hope your daughters are going to have a good time and that they will not forget to return with your desired gift (although Guinness does flow freely down in the Liffey)

I hope I will get the hair issue sorted… To be honest, I am now beginning to think that I might have PCOS (I’ve been doing some reading on related issues - only today - and I discovered worrying similarities with the syndrome).

I am worried.
